I know he’s small but I think Pashin is the most talented draft eligible forward. I can’t see him not cracking the Russian roster.

He was outstanding at the Junior A Challenge... just crazy good.

This will probably not be the team, as Russian coaching staff views this tournament to be for 19-year-olds.

The underage D group looks significantly deeper and more talented but most likely scenario is only 1 or 2 from the Mukhamadullin/Chayka/Kuznetsov/Nikishin group.

I’m sorry if I’m missing something because I haven’t been following Russian national team selections that closely but why isn’t anyone talking about Daniil Gushchin?

He’s not that good. He could make it next year, but the year after is more likely.
Okey, like I said I haven’t been following Russian talents or national teams that closely but wasn’t Gushchin one of the best 02 born players in Russia a few years ago?

I know he is small but he has been regularly with the national team from what I have seen, then I guess he just hasn’t progressed that much in these couple of years when other players have.

What are the chances Artur Akhtyamov gets a goalie spot? I assume Askarov is the #1, but don't have much info on other options for 2/3

Skotnikov is the etrenched no.2. The third spot is up for grabs I think. Akhtyamov got some KHL action due to the COVID quarantines. He did look good, but obviously way less mature than Askarov. He has a chance. But as this is also a spot for a goalie who might not play a game in the tournament the coaching staff might as well throw darts at the names.

I am also confused. There are two threads for Russia obviously dealing with the same tournament. One title saying WJC2020, the other WJC2021. Please merge them or something.
