I honestly think we should start talking about the top 5-10 of the 2022 draft. This is where Armstrong needs to hit a home run.

Traded up for Othman, then down a few times.

Brennan Othmann (34)
Benjamin Gaudreau (51)
Josh Doan (130)
Ryan St.louis (134)
Ethan Cardwell (154)
Florian Elias (166)
Jacob Guevin (171)
Jake Chaisson (191)
Stephen Halliday (198)

Think the first two are great picks as I'm a strong believer that both Othmann and Gaudreau will be players with sneaky good upside, after that just a bunch of solid depth picks with a love for the Doan family thrown in. Honesty haven't been able to focus on hockey in the past year very much since moving to Lake Louise and dealing with some personal issues so my scouting likely won't be up to par compared to most years... Brutal internet connection in the mountains hasn't helped either haha

So Connor Bedard just had a hat-trick against Sweden, of all teams, at the U18s.

The kid is 15. He's two years younger than most players.

When Bedard left for the tournament, he was tops in WHL scoring with 28 pts in 15 games. In a league where he is on average 4 years younger than everyone else.

Bedard is 2023 eligible. Shane Wright is 2022, and he had 4 points today.

Oh and they're both centres.

Do we just say f*** it and just try to get one of these guys?

Then in 2024 sign Matthews? I'm in!

This is what i have been suggesting for awhile. I already have a Bedard jersey. Pats season ticket holder as well so will have him well scouted.

Let’s tank!!!

1. Kuemper+Garland for Koskinen+Bear+Holloway

2. Keller for Zary

3. Schmaltz for O’Rourke+McBain

4. OEL for Lauzon

Shane Wright is next year and he is just as good I think. Tempting.

I'm in. Sell Keller for a 2020 guy we didn't get to draft. Sell OEL and Kuemper. Keep Dvo and Chychrun. Maybe Garland. Sell Schmaltz. Rebuild our top four, wait on the forwards.

You guys are forgetting Lambert and Michkov. There are two franchise players in each draft. And two lottery winners. So I guess we need to look at who will be 4th overall each year. Lol.

I could see Calgary moving Johnny hockey. Could also see them wanting to bring in Tkachuk’s great buddy Clayton Keller. I wonder if we are willing to take back Milan Lucic, if they’d be willing to add a real asset to Zary for Keller. Like maybe Pelletier or Heineman?

CGY:
Keller
Fischer

ARI:
Lucic
Zary
Pelletier/Heineman

Ruzicka and Solovyov instead of Pelletier/Heineman? Both seem like quality players that could equal far more than their draft positions. Ruzicka could be ready as early as next season too.

We'll probably be awful the next two years, pick 5th-10th both years, and then reach for a defensive-minded center who doesn't see meaningful ice time until his Draft+5, when we promptly trade him for a second line winger that we try to shove into a 1c spot and proceed to be just mediocre enough to not make the playoffs.

And if that isn't bad enough we just might cheat some more.

Traded back from 107 to 120 & 161.

38. Svozil (LD)
This is my Carlo-esk pick. I'd take him as early as 20.
43. Pinelli (C)
Has a shot to be a solid, low end 1c IMO.
120. Orr (C)
Don't know anything about him but he's listed as a goal scorer which matches my theme for the draft. Bigger physical guys and goal scorers.
129. Doan (C)
Obvious reasons.
139. Lazutin (C)
Again, don't know anything about him, listed as goal scorer.
161. Knak (RW)
I've actually gotten to see Knak play live, he was fun to watch and plays with a bit of an edge.
171. Montgomery (RD)
Boy is big, took a flier.
