Alright let’s go for next year. Was just scrolling through the Eite Prospects draft pages. Man, this draft looks so weak. Atu Raty, who some think is the current front-runner for 1st overall (I’d be shocked) couldn’t even crack his Liiga team this year. Very few players were able to get close to a ppg in the CHL and all of the best players on the U17 team last year are 2022 eligible. 2022 looks stacked. Fleming from Minnesota I think has a shot to be the best Minnesota born forward ever.

Raty won't go top 10.

I think this one is going to shape up a lot better than people think right now. Early fan of Bourgault, Beniers for forwards.

Ive read that 2021 will be deep in quality defenseman.
I like Clarke, Power, and Lambos a lot. I like Highes too. Hreschuk is intruiging. It’s deep in defenseman, I just don’t know how much quality is there past the first few. Will we interesting to watch the storylines evolve

Johansson: 2021 early pick + 2022 late pick
Bonino: 2021 early pick + 2022 late pick
Pateryn: 2021 late pick
Bjugstad 2021 late pick
Foligno: 2021 early pick + 2022 late pick

For Johansson and Bonino, would you rather have a 1st or a 2nd and 3rd?

1st definitely, but I don't think it would be in the cards.

Yeah I doubt it, especially for both of them. I could see Bonino possibly getting one. Was just curious if you'd rather have one shot or two.

With a potentially large number of picks, I would like to see them be aggressive and trade up.

So, possibly realistic scenario:

Johansson: 2021 2nd + 2022 4th
Bonino: 2021 1st
Pateryn: 2021 6th
Bjugstad 2021 5th
Foligno: 2021 2nd + 2022 5th

In 2021 we have

3 1sts
3 2nds
2 3rds

Trade Dumba and we could have 4 1sts.

How many good players does Judd pull with 7 picks in the first two rounds?

Can get a 1st: Bonino
Could get a 1st:
  • Johansson if he’s pacing for 55ish points. I think it’s unlikely at this point
Can get a 2nd:
  • Johansson
  • Foligno
Could get a 2nd:
  • Bjugstad, if he’s playing decently well as a 3RW

Hopefully it’s a trade deadline like last year where players like Barclay Goodrow are fetching 1st round picks

In a league where nobody has cap space, trade deadline rentals will be more valuable than ever.

Looking at next year's forward class I'm halfway tempted to go for 2022 picks with some of the UFAs we trade at the deadline. Not sure that affects how high a pick we can demand but figure it might be worth a shot. I really don't like 2021.

Raty's team has better center depth than Lundell's team during his draft year. Karpat coach also likes to rotate players, especially bottom 6 players. Young players rarely play in Liiga all the season in their draft year. At best, they might play a couple of games. People have ridiculous expectations for young players nowadays. There is no such thing as patience.

Anyways, Finnish players don't have funny names unlike Canadians do in next year's draft. However, some players may be familiar because of last names. I have seen some of them playing this season but I don't really have an opinion of them. I am just watching them out of interest.

  • Aatu Raty (C)
  • Samuel Helenius (C)
  • Eetu Liukas
  • Verner Miettinen (C)
  • Eero Niemi
  • Samu Salminen (C/LW)
  • Samu Tuomaala
  • Jere Virolainen (C/LW)
  • Jeremi Tammela
  • Niko Huuhtanen
  • Viljam Sandvik (C)
  • Valtteri Karnaranta
  • Kalle Väisänen
  • Ville Koivunen
  • Viljami Marjala
  • Oliver Kapanen

  • Atte Lehikoinen
  • Jimi Suomi
  • Viljami Juusola
  • Aleksi Malinen
  • Topias Vilén
  • Tomi Leppänen

The name part was ment as a joke.

Nice lists, thanks.

Is Salminen skilled or does he simply rack up almost two points a game on being big?
