The Giants pick surprised me but didn’t disappoint me. I watched a lot of Florida games last year and he always stood out more than anyone on that team (including Pitts). I figured he was 5’8” 175 by the way he moved, but he’s 6’0” 193 which is great size for his speed/agility. Also had the lowest drop rate in college football.

The Giants lacked someone like him on their offense, and unfortunately with Shepherd’s concussion history they needed to fortify their weapons. They can get and edge or IOL in the second round.

Lastly, they got Chicago’s 1st next year which is insane. No other team that moved back came close to getting the haul the Giants did.
They could have drafted a towel boy and that move is still good because that Bears pick could be a top 10 pick.

Wow what a weird pick. I get half this draft is reuniting college QB's with their RB/WR boys, but did James Robinson suddenly go into witness protection or something?

while I don't know if that was the right pick for the Jags, Robinson and Etienne are polar opposites though

Robinson is a plodding between the tackles guy and Etienne is an explosive outside guy who catches passes

What could go wrong with drafting a guy in NY who’s an aspiring rapper with the name Yung Joka?

I also didn’t know that Zach Wilson’s uncle is one of the founders of JetBlue...I would love to be this kid for a day.

Toney also has had off the field issues as well.

while I would like to take Javonte, not sure they go that route unfortunately

Humphrey, T. Jenkins, J. Holland, T. Moehrig, B. Browning, Q. Meinerz all guys I could see Miami be interested in tonight
I agree, I hope we grab one of the interior lineman and a RB tonight.

That's fair I haven't really researched the OTs in this draft but I would like to add another guy there for depth.

So last night, instead of an O-Lineman like Slater to help improve their O-line to Protect Sam Darnold (whom they just picked up his 5th year option), the Carolina Panthers selected Jaycee Horn, a Cornerback.

Didn't know Maccagnan was GM there... /sarcasm

I thought they wanted to give Sam a chance.

Eh I loved the Jaycee horn pick and they have some more good picks to fortify the o-line which iirc was already pretty solid.

In the NFC South you cannot have enough good cornerbacks. Even a bad team like ATL can ring up points throwing to Jones and Ridley. Also, Bridgewater had a roughly 70% completion percentage last season. The Carolina problem is lack of depth on offense when McCaffrey went down. I don't think it's so much a lack of decent offensive linemen.

Davis stepped in a performed admirably although I do agree with the lack of depth.

I also think corner is becoming a premier position like LT, DE, and QB. Teams mix and match all the time at guard and linebacker and safety and running back. Sometimes TE and WR are sort of interchangeable depending upon the offense. Teams will pay to retain a good LT, a good pass rushing DE, and obviously a QB. I think CB is moving in that direction.

Losing Samuel certainly hurts the Panthers but I think Rhule will figure it out. I think Darnold has a chance there with a good running game and a much more stable situation.

It has been for the past 5 years or so there just haven't been enough to go around. You are seeing more and more top prospects being recruited as CB because teams are bringing in the best athletes to play the hardest positions (QB/CB). I think you can make a pretty strong case that LT is overvalued because a good unit and scheme can make up for deficiencies at the bookends. Granted it is still a top position but having some maulers inside allows your protection to slide and gives your QB more room to step up.

If Darnold cannot succeed in a Joe Brady offense then he cannot succeed as an NFL QB in my view. It's a very QB friendly offense and puts a premium on smarts over arm talent and athleticism. It's the system the Saints use and they were able to go 6-0 with Bridgewater subbing for Brees and 3-1 with Taysom Hill as their QB this past season. If Darnold makes the effort to learn it and the coaches help him with his cues for the pre-snap reads he will have a real chance at success.

At least they picked up Darnold’s option after last night. The timing of that tells you there was a non zero chance they were picking QB last night lol, or at least trying to make teams think that.

They got lucky with Zues being available and somehow no one wanting Creed. Do you like Holland and Eichenberg?

Holland rules...he can play all over the defensive backfield and has tremendous ball skills. If he didn't opt out this year he would have definitely gone round 1 I think.

Honestly did not watch/read much about Eichenberg, but he seems like their type of guy. I think he could step in and start right away at RT
