Kizimov was added with 1 vote. Vote for who to add next.

1. Each poll will be open for 24 hours.

2. As we never have a consensus way as to which players are still considered prospects, we'll be using my way (at least for the first few polls). The player must be U24 and have less than 50 GP in the NHL. The "prospects" that are left off because of these rules are Joey Anderson, Brennan Menell, Adam Brooks, Joseph Duszak, Vladimir Bobylev, and Nickolai Chebykin. The player also must be either drafted by the team, or signed to an ELC to be considered a prospect. This leaves off a player like Keith Petruzzelli.

3. At this time we'll stick to the top-20, but if we want to go to 25 or 30 (I believe the Leafs have just over 30 guys that are eligible) I'll definitely go further.

Rankings:
1. Rasmus Sandin - 53.2%
2. Nick Robertson - 50.9%
3. Timothy Liljegren - 56.9%
4. Rodion Amirov - 90.6%
5. Topi Niemela - 62.1%
6. Matthew Knies - 45.4%
7. Roni Hirvonen - 61.1%
8. Mikhail Abramov - 47.5%
9. Mikko Kokkonen - 44.7%
10. Veeti Miettinen - 49.4%
11. Nick Abruzzese - 40.2%
12. Pontus Holmberg - 27.2% (tiebreaker - 57.1%)
13. Dmitri Ovchinnikov - 27.2% (tiebreaker - 42.9%)
14. Semyon Der-Arguchintsev - 29.6% (tiebreaker - 53.8%)

16. Filip Kral - 57.6%

Ahktyamov. IMO there’s a legit chance, say super roughly in the 5-10% range, that he could become an NHL starter. You could argue that’s a better chance than anyone outside of our top 8 has of becoming a top 6 forward/top 4 D.

Disagree with this. Our group has good depth.

Yeah, pretty good depth, but most prospects other than real blue-chippers bust. From Kokkonen down, I don’t think any of those guys (individually) have more than an ~5-10% chance to become a legit top 6 F/top 4 D.

I’d say:
  • Top 2 (Sandin/Robertson): ~50-80% chance of becoming a legit top 4 D/top 6 F
  • 3-4 (Liljegren/Amirov): ~30-50%
  • 5-7 (Niemela, Knies, Hirvonen): ~15-30%
  • 8 (Abramov): ~10-15%
  • 9-10 (Kokkonen, Miettinen): ~5-10%
  • The rest: <5%
FWIW, in our last 15 drafts (2007 through 2021), only 3 guys picked outside of the top 8 have become even arguably a top 6 F/top 4 D:
  • Verhaege
  • Connor Brown
  • Gunnarsson
And honestly, those guys are all borderline - you can certainly argue that, through their prime, Brown is/was ideally a 3rd liner, Gunnarsson bottom pairing, and Verhaege had a nice season but I need to see more.

While it’s still early for the past ~5 of the past 15 drafts, that’s still 10 straight drafts with a combined 0-3 top 6 D/top 4 Fs drafted outside the top 8.

Could go any of 4 guys here really but I'll go Scott for his upside hoping the injuries are behind him and it hasn't cost him too much development.

Now that we've reached 20, I'll say I'd enjoy going further if it's not too much work

I truly believe that Ian Scott could become someone great, could be the next Pogge, could be the next Thomas.

Goalies as we all know, are almost impossible to predict, but the kid may just grow to have it.
