Great season, all! It came down to a nail-biter! I'd like to thank former King Jack Campbell AKA Soupy for taking Vote for Lubo! from good to great!

Hopefully we'll have less uncertainty next season, but it was kind of fun playing whack-a-mole with the NA/IR list and subbing in guys who never otherwise be fantasy players.

Congrats! You ran a brilliant campaign.

Congrats on your run! This certainly was a trying season for all, but hopefully things return to normal next season, and there will be an added challenge with the NHL gaining a 32nd team. See you all at the next fantasy draft!

Hey everyone, I have restarted the league, and you all should have received invitations to renew your teams.

We have one opening available so far, so if there is anyone who is interested in joining, please provide your email here or via PM, and I'll send an invitation to join.

Additionally, I wanted to ask what the members of the league think of reducing the roster sizes by four? As of now, we have:
3 Centers
3 Left Wings
3 Right Wings
5 Defensemen
2 Utility Players
2 Goaltenders

This makes for an 18-player lineup (not including the 4 additional benched players).

If most are in favor of it, I could reduce the rosters to:
2 Centers
2 Left Wings
2 Right Wings
4 Defensemen
2 Utility Players
2 Goaltenders

That will give us a 14-player lineup, and with four bench spots, a roster of 18.

I think going with a smaller roster may help increase activity in player movement, and also perhaps improve the pool of players to pick from if you need to find an IR replacement or what not.

I'm fine going with the same roster alignment, but I'm also open for suggestions if most of you feel like the rosters are too big (or if the drafts run too long).

Let me know what ya'll think.

I'm in favor of the smaller lineup, but I won't be too disappointed if we stayed as is. I'd say most of my player movement last year was COVID/IR, so it would be fun to be dropping and adding based more on hot streaks/strength of opponent instead!

EDIT: Also, thanks for running this again, Ziggy!

I think the smaller lineup would be better. That set up is what my other 14-team league does. My experience is that it works well for still rewarding good waiver/IR management but is enough to prevent teams with being full of only star players.

I'm in. Draft date doesn't work for me. It's my bday and I'll be in Vegas.. Actually, I may never come home lol.

I think roster size should be based upon the number of teams. If we only get 8 teams a bigger roster.

Besides, this is a league based from a prospect board. So we all should have the breadth of knowledge to be able to play with a thinner waiver wire.

My biggest issue was the number of IL spots. 6 was too many.

I had to increase the IR spots all thanks to covid, and that really screwed a number of GMs, especially anyone with Canucks players. I plan on bringing the IR spots back down to 4.

The smaller roster will stand to benefit everyone in having a better pool of unassigned players to pick from.

Not sure what your final answer is to the reduction of roster sizes, but so far the tally is 4 in favor of it (including my vote). We have 12 teams, and the proposal is for rosters of 18 total players per team.

You're right. I forgot about COVID. Never-ending. "Just when you think you're out it keeps pulling you in."

And, oh yeah, derrrr. Thanks for being commish and all your work.

I'm the GM of HC Teh Suck.

Honestly I'm against a reduction of the rosters spots, it will just increase players adds/drops.
I do believe that each team must keep its own identity.

Besides, I would reintroduce PM as a stat

I'm in. Just have to get a minute to remember to check the link. Smaller rosters leave what, 48 players out there? I'd be good either way on that. Those 48 guys aren't the best anyway. Although larger rosters give you more reason to take the guys the block shots or hit. Same if PIMs were brought back. A little more strategy involved.

Or, more limited rosters would put an even greater emphasis on getting the best shot blocker or whatever.

Sorry for the no help.

We still get lots of adds/drops every week, and I think that's likely due to the roster sizes and teams having to carry around more dead weight in order to get certain stats up, which is why I think a good majority preferred to get rid of a stat like PIMs since they're a detriment in hockey. I wish Yahoo used something like fighting majors instead, but they haven't updated their stat categories in ages (plus that's also a rarity in games anyhow).

The reduction of 4 roster spots per team could certainly lead to more strategizing, with some preferring to sacrifice more of the common stats with a big shot blocker or hitter, or would someone want to waste a roster spot on a Ryan Reaves or Kurtis MacDermid, or will teams hoard four goalies, which would leave only two bench spots for skaters?

Also, to touch on the draft date/time, right now the Oct. 3, 4:00 PM start time is a tentative placeholder that will most likely change. With the NHL season scheduled to start on Tuesday, October 12, I'll most likely be scheduling the draft for Sunday, October 10 in the afternoon. Hope most will be able to attend a live draft on that day, time is still TBD as I want to get a general consensus on what timeslot works best for everyone. @Albi is overseas, so I'm hoping we can manage to work in a timeframe that permits him to attend.

I would prefer to keep the roster size like previous years.

Also, if we dont do PIM, can we add something like face off wins? Maybe take one stat away from goalies?

I don't think there's a goalie stat that we have that needs to be taken away, and faceoff wins is limited to centers only...

I think 15 overall stat categories is a good balance, as the odd number also helps reduce the likelihood of ties occurring in weekly matchups.

You can limit the roster moves down to, say, 4 per week to discourage roster turnover.

It's not so much that roster turnover is a concern or issue, every season there will be a team that runs into injury problems (hence my team name being Injured Reserve), so I don't want to handicap anyone who runs into those kinds of problems.

The roster size reduction will actually help improve the options for everyone to pick from in the unassigned list, and I also think it will also lead to more strategizing in terms of roster building, how many goalies to carry, having hitting/shot blocking specialists, etc.

Pretty sure Yahoo let’s you draft from the mobile app, so I’m good with whatever time works best for the group in general on Oct 10.
