Has there been any preparation games yet?

And has there been any news about possible NHL players to join the WHC?

No games so far and because NHL is still going and every team except Buffalo is at least theoretically in the playoff race, there hasn't been any news of NHL players joining. I wouldn't expect any news from NHL players until their season is over. Their teams probably wouldn't like it if their focus was on WC before the season was over.

I think the only news we have gotten so far is this article that says that Jalonen chose 11 KHL players for a camp that starts on 4th of May, but didn't give out the names of those players. This was a couple of weeks ago. I haven't seen any speculation or rumors of who those players might be.

Kaski and Pokka are still playing playoffs, so I doubt either are among the eleven. If someone knows or wants to check, which teams were out of the playoffs before that article was written, it would give a better idea, who those eleven players could be.

Lots of good players in SHL from Finland,

Joel Mustonen, Juhani Tyvräinen, Jesse Virtanen, Robin Salo, Ilari Melart and Rasmus Rissanen should all be considered.

I have no clear handle on Tony Sund, what can you tell me about him?

Forgot Hännikäinen played there too, should be one of those.

Don´t know much about him. He is a rather young guy who have developed well in the weakest of clubs in KHL(now he went to Davos). He did well at EHT games this season so I think he will be close to the wch team.

Seems like something Ristolainen would do.

Theres on one difference though. Alatalo was never given a chance to represent Finland, even he might have wanted. So he choose to try the other way. I personally hope that he will make it to the swiss team some day.

Ristolainen have been given a lot of chances if he had took them, but while he is an arrogant asshole, he dont want to represent Finland.

Speaking of national traitors...Some say Janne Niinimaa wanted to be swede. His nickname "swedish agent" was not without reason.

I will list some names that I believe weren't mentioned yet in this thread:

Matias Maccelli
Lauri Pajuniemi
Aleksi Saarela
Mika Pyörälä
Vili Saarijärvi

Maccelli is one name that was not mentioned yet as a candidate for the WHC. I think that Jukka Jalonen loves him based on the surprising EHT selection (in 2019 I believe) and Jalonen liked his play back then. He will probably give Maccelli a chance to play some games in Czech EHT.

One suprising name could be Mika Pyörälä. He would be one captain candidate if we don't get many people from the NHL and Jukka Jalonen's old trusted soldier from HPK years.

Ristolainen is an arrogant asshole because he doesn't bother with silly WC tournaments? Give me a break. He has represented Finland plenty of times and scored the golden goal in 2014 if you remember. He is not oblidged to play if he doesn't want to. I would rather have a team full of players who want to play rather than players who play so fans don't consider them unpatriotic.

No news yet about any players. The first camp roster is still a mystery. Just 11 mysterious khl players with no name. I think that this years roster will be even more "nameless" than 2019. I doubt that any of the 2019 gold medal winning team will bother to come this time.

Guys like Ruotsalainen are very welcome.

If I have to count on some returning players, these would be my picks:

Harri Pesonen
Niko Ojamäki
Arttu Ilomäki

Petteri Lindbohm
Oliwer Kaski

Jussi Olkinuora

I think that Anttila will take time with his family this time. Getting old...
