Thanks! Although after today I'm taking a breather. I'm starting some much needed vacation from work and I'm headed off the grid so to speak (weak cell service where I'm headed). It'll be a nice break. Hope you (and others here) enjoy what's left of their summer.
Have a great vacation Dust

Unless there are additional moves:

Marchand-Bergy-Pasta
Hall-Stud-Smith
DeBrusk-Coyle-Foligno
Nosek-Frederic-Haula
Lazar

Gryz-McAvoy
Reilly-Carlo
Forbort-Clifton
Zboril/Vaak

Ullmark-Swayman
I think this is mostly accurate, although I'd expect Stud and Haula to be flipped. Unless Stud absolutely destroys in camp, my guess is they'll start him on the 4th and have him play his way up the lineup and roll the vet who has experience playing 2C at 2C.

I'll just say that the idea of Erik Haula on 2nd line very much brings back memories of Schaller or Nordstrom as 2nd line RW.

Unless Studnicka makes a massive jump or Coyle strings together a consistent season for the first time in his career, their center depth is among the worst in the league. Once Bergeron takes his annual 20-game injury break, it's probably the worst in the league.

I would say this is the most realistic line up based on what we’ve seen from Cassidy in the past and Dons recent comments

Frederick or Studnicka do not impress enough to be regular starting centers. Either one will probably have a hard time making the team. Center position is going to be as big Achilles heal.

The defense is going to be mediocre at best. Long season ahead.

Not much in the cupboard of value and no cap space to improve.

gotta break that first line up, no?
especially with no krejci.
hall stud pasta might work as a 2ndine.
coyle should stay with debrusk and smith.
id try foligno with bergy and marsh. see if theycan make it work.

I doubt Cassidy starts Stud at 2nd line center. I doubt that Cassidy will have him in the line-up at all at the beginning of the year. Bruins center group is set with Bergeron-Coyle-Haula-lazar- and potentially Frederick.

I would guess that’s Coyles job to lose.

I think they just bump Coyle up. If he can't play 2nd line, he makes too much money and we should just move him.

Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak
Hall-Coyle-Smith
DeBrusk-Haula-Foligno

Presuming last year was an injury-riddled aberration for Coyle, I've come around to the fact that Hall-Coyle-Smith is a perfectly fine 2nd line. Not as good as Krejci or Dvorak, but it'll do. Of course, anyone would rather have Coyle as their 3rd best C instead of their 2nd, just for depth.

I think that’s the base. Maybe Smith and Foligno swap.

And then Studnicka, Frederic and (yes) Senyshyn are all wild cards to blow it all up.

The positional flexibility of Foligno, Lazar, Coyle, Nosek, and Haula means that if one the kids break thru, the team can move things around…and if they don’t…the team is still covered.

I think that’s a difference between this years squad and the last few years. When someone like Bjork wasn’t able to make the jump, it meant you were playing more fourth liners. Now they don’t NEED the kids, they are a bonus…but they also aren’t blocked.

Haula career:

0.21 goals per game 0.22 assists per game

Nordstrom career:

Schaller career:

No, Haula's not quite a comparable to Schaller or Nordstrom.

And, Bergeron missed 2 games last season.

Agreed. Haula is much more comparable to a Rich Peverley type of player than he is Tim Schaller.

I think we're going to like him.

What is the powerplay though?

Imo it will be like the last season's end:

Marchand - Bergeron - Hall
Pasternak - Grelcnyk

With Cassidy press clues yesterday

Marchand Begeron Pasta
Hall Coyle Smith
Debrusk Haula Foligno
Nosek Lazar Studnicka

Forbort McAvoy
Grz Carlo
Reilly Clifton

Swayman
Ullmark

4th line is still up in the air other than Nosek cementing a spot. The other two players have to fight for a spot. Debrusk on a short leash imo. Coyle at 2c not set. Pasta may have to move down if scoring dries up

DeBrusk & Coyle have no chemistry.

Those who have Haula on line 4 are way off. He’s top 9 for sure. Could end up being the best pickup in free agency.

Studnicka not ready for 2C.

Foligno playing the Recchi role on Bergeron’s RW intrigues me. Also slides Pastrnak down with Hall
