Womens College Basketball is fun, the past 3-4 NCAA Tournaments and conference tournaments have been a good watch.

The WNBA jumped the shark a long time ago, I'm surprised it's still going.

Yeah, the NCAA D1 has a very nice level of basketball and very strong team cohesion. What do you mean by jumped the shark? The WNBA is stronger than ever.

Volleyball is in no way comparable. Spikes are a neccessary part of the sport, dunks are not.

It's played on a court... they use a ball... there's a net... there are out of bounds lines... there are blocks... players have different roles on the team based on their height...

It's a little comparable, no?

And spikes aren't a necessary part of the game... you don't ever see them in elementary school volleyball... they just make the game more exciting at the higher levels

Without spikes, rallies in volleyball would be basically endless at a high level. Lack of dunking doesn't hurt WNBA at all, if anything the game would be worse if tall players could dunk more easily. Height already matters a lot more than in men's basketball.

Have you ever watched women's basketball played on lower rims?

It might be something worth trying...

I can only speak for myself personally and I can basically guarantee that lowering the rim would significantly lower my interest in the WNBA.

I had the 'chance' to practice on 9' rims in an Elementary school once a week for a whole Summer with a Varsity team. :help:

Anyway, ready for Saturday? (my title is wrong, it only starts Saturday) You have the league pass?

I do yeah, since I'm in Europe I don't get any blackouts so LP is insane value. Not sure I could be any more ready, it's been so long. Doesn't even feel like summer's started already when there's no W. And even though we're probably not mounting a serious title defense, I'm really excited for this Mystics team. Lots of young players who will look to prove themselves in bigger roles.

Oh so you're a Mystics' fan. I used to be a huge Fever fan, but I couldn't stand Spooky Chatman so I drifted off a little the last two years. I hope I can find the feels again this year. Otherwise, I like the Sun a lot. I live in Canada and I normally drive South 5 or 6 times per year to see live games of either the Sun or the Liberty (I've seen games in Washington, Indiana and Chicago too, but only once). I was there last year for the two finals games played in Connecticut, the court is built in a casino there, always fun. And for the last 5 years I've brought my players to see a game down there, once a year, great times. Met quite a few players too, Taurasi, Bonner, and Tina Charles are particularly nice off court.

First day was a little disappointing. No surprise I guess, the players are rusty, timing was off. Still, it was great to watch 3 (!) games today. Back at it tomorrow.
