"Edmonton gets 7 hours, 27 minutes and 42 seconds of daylight today. That's about about 9.5 hours less daylight than the summer solstice, which has 17 hours, two minutes and 42 seconds of daylight."

I knew there was a big difference, but that is a lot of hours of daylight I'm missing right about now. Even daylight till about 7 is tolerable. But this 4 PM darkness sucks.

GFS model still shows little to no precip until the 17th, with light snow. Lots of lows crashing into the west coast with no Arctic highs looming. Daytime temps near or above zero up to the 16th (model didn't go further).

those west coast lows are clipping through the prairies/american midwest which has made a couple runs through there a bit of an adventure. I was in the Appalachians, along the New York/Pennsylvania state line, a couple days after New Years. It collided with a system that moved up the east coast from the Gulf. You serious could've played hockey on the I 81 from all the ice built up on the highway
