Canuck hunting
Rapinoe continuing to have a hard time with the loss. Chiding Canada for having no SOG (we had two) and neglecting to mention US didn't get their first shot until the 2nd half. It was a tightly played game, other than both teams giving the ball away too much, but that said there was a lot of pressure on the ball. Both sides were having trouble using whole field and getting the ball to open spots.

Canada struggled to find posession in 2nd half but I thought we had some good forays in first half. Thing is US didn't score, and the Canadian goalie only made one save where she was even tested. On the shot by Llloyd that glanced off crossbar, she had it covered if it was on goal.

US never scored, bye bye now.

The speed and acceleration that DeGrasse has coming out of the turn is amazing but he'll need it all to beat that 17 year old American kid.

Ideally we’d have 4 or 5 more medals, but in a pandemic year where training was all messed up, there are no real expectations.
i never really thought about it until they showed the video of the bmx racer girl (forgot her name) practicing alone in the snow. its especially hard for outdoor summer athletes who were stuck in canada to train

the crazy part is de Grasse had the fastest time in the semis and he pulled up and slowed at the end. I think he might have one more gear we havent seen yet

Pavan and Paredes lose. Ellie Black finishes 4th, the womens cyclying finishes 4 not a great couple of days for Canada. Hopefully Degrasse and the soccer team can salvage our hopes.
I think Canada ended up with surprise medals in weightlifting and Judo, so it sort of balances out.

I have an issue with the Namibian winning any medal. My understanding is she's very new to the track scene but have high levels of "natural" testoterone that has given her an advantage in races. I think the IOC shouldn't have allowed her to race the 200m. They'll probably change their policies after this.

Only thing I've been following for the Olympics is my wife's "Medal Count". Last I'd heard it was at 13 - 1 for the Canadian women. I even heard suggestions of getting some of the women athlete's to replace the men.

Anyone else?

I just googled “Canada’s most decorated Olympian” and my name came up. I want to thank that teacher in high school who told me to stop swimming to focus on school bc swimming wouldn’t get me anywhere. This is what dreams are made of.

Wow, lot's of humility in that statement. ;)I kind of get what she's implying, but not sure what kind of message this sends for kids that are adverse to attending or continuing their education. Not everyone has the pedigree to be a championship swimmer or athlete in general.

Warner sets an Olympic Best in the Long Jump. Just before, Thomas van der Plaetsen had his right leg go out of him and he did a full body plant into the sand. Had to be taken off in a wheelchair.

Only thing I've been following for the Olympics is my wife's "Medal Count". Last I'd heard it was at 13 - 1 for the Canadian women. I even heard suggestions of getting some of the women athlete's to replace the men.

Anyone else?

:D

The women have really stole the show but don't admit that to your wife ---it might set a bad precedent.

i never really thought about it until they showed the video of the bmx racer girl (forgot her name) practicing alone in the snow. its especially hard for outdoor summer athletes who were stuck in canada to train
But we figure it out even in the snow…;)

Going into the Olympics, Canada was expected to take the gold in men's diving; however, Ryan Kesler was a no-show. The man has no sense of legacy!
