What does that mean a jinx? Leaving them out cause had to leave one team out and people get upset if i leave their team out so i left my own team out to prevent problems but looks like the problems come up anyways, just cant prevent them on this site, always a problem.

It’s cause Tampa had just made the playoffs and pushed them to 7 in the dominant Cup win, but they missed the playoffs in the year of the iffy Cup win.

Speaking of Tampa, here’s a fun fact; in the two years that Tampa won this poll, they went on to win a combined 0 playoff games.

I'd go with the Caps. Still a very well structured team, had a long Summer off, and will probably be hungry to get back to the SCF after tasting defeat in a bitter fashion vs. Carolina. They also play in a division that is going to see a ton of turmoil in the 2-8 positions, but I think it will create a situation where the other best teams from last year (PIT, NYI, CLB, CAR) will kind of meet the other 3 teams somewhere in the middle, watering that division down and leaving Washington as the clear and unquestioned best team in it.

With Tampa, yes, they look excellent on paper, but it's gotten to the point where you have to question their star players in the playoffs, as well as Cooper's ability to adapt. Also, having Boston and Toronto in the same division, along with Florida who should be much improved, does them no favors when you have to get through that murderers' row to get to the Conference Finals.

McDavid is a hell of a drug. At the time it looked like a "break out"year for them and with a teenage McDavid on the team. Oilers fans were already basically celebrating multiple cups, and a lot of people drank the koolaid.

Agreed... Tampa is better on paper but the challenges of each division and the experience of the teams tilts it for the Caps.

Plus I think being swept could mentally hurt the Bolts a lot and have a ripple effect. When the Caps got swept in 2011 during their peak choking years it took us until 2015 to become an elite team again.
