Alright. So if OEL doesn’t happen, and Krug isn’t coming back, what’s the plan on D? AP isn’t a realistic option to me. Can’t think of other UFA D. Rumors of Nate Schmidt trade talk (no teams connected). I dunno. Should probably just sleep the rest of the week.

In this case, I think the Bruins lock up Grz and sign Chara to an even further discount (1.5m) to play 3rd pairing/PK/tight end of game specialist

Grz McAvoy
Lauzon Carlo
Chara Clifton
Vaaka Zboril
(injuries are bound to occur. So Vaaka and Zboril should get their turns)

In terms of the forward lines, I don't have a good feeling with what will happen with Debrusk. It reminds me of Reilly Smith scenario all over again. A player the Bruins like but not enough to pay open market value. I would puke if next season 2nd line attempt was Ritchie Krejci Kase

So the Bruins literally do nothing to their defense except subtract Krug.

I think I'll also be sick if that's the 2nd line again.
Big changes being made...

I do understand why some people rather trade for Hanifin then OEL. Even though OEL is better, is he twice the salary better? Also Hanifin is still only 23.

If there is a deal to be made with the Flames, with Debrusk going the other way.... that should be explored

Then focus on obtaining 5 v 5 winger(s) for the 2nd line. Start getting rid of players like Moore, Ritchie for cap space

Getting hannifin would be amazing your right 23 only and could be a stud with McAvoy

How about this idea

Marchand Bergeron Pasta
Grant Krejci Dadonov
Bjork Coyle Stud
Frederic Kuraly Senyshyn

Hanifin McAvoy
Grz Carlo
Lauzon Clifton
Vaaka Zboril

Rask
Halak

- Trade Debrusk for Hanifin
- Sign free agent Dadonov
- Sign free agent Derek Grant

For cap relief
Trade Kase, Ritchie, Moore, Wagner

6'3 Derek Grant highlights. Need a guy who is capable to win front of the net battles but also can skate/score

if you had told anyone here pre covid that OEL was forcing a trade here no one would’ve said anything negative. top pairing LD is the biggest hole on the team other than top 6 RW maybe.

I don't think anyone minds the player, it's the cost to acquire plus cap implications. OELs play hasn't been near where it needs to be over the last year or two.

It's a genuine risk.

So Korpisalo is available. GO GET HIM. GO GET OEL AND KORPISALO. STOP f***ING AROUND.

OEL would drastically improve this blue line. Move out Rask for a prospect/pick and get Korpisalo. Kid has shown he’s a gamer with real heart.

Then when the dust settles, sign Dadonov Or Toffoli on OCT 9th.

Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak
DeBrusk-Krejci-Dadonov/Toffoli
Bjork-Coyle-Studnicka
Ritchie-Kuraly-Wagner

OEL-McAvoy
Grzelcyk-Carlo
Lauzon-Clifton

Korpisalo
Halak

So we let Krug go
Won’t get OEL
Won’t get Hall
Didn’t get a 1st round pick

Maybe get Dadonov
If lucky get Brodie

I wish we had a gm who wasn’t this afraid

Its not fear...its thoroughly evaluating the market and having the courage to walk away from a deal.

But yes its fear.

I don’t agree. If you know you have a major hole in the top 6 and you have cap space and it doesn’t get addressed not saying it won’t but if it don’t . It’s called either dumb or being scared. If your not adding on or rebuilding what are you doing. What direction is this thing going.

Sweeney is really good at walking away from deals.

The cap space is in the best shape I can remember, now and longterm

Bergeron, Marchand, Rask are still playing at an elite level

Pasta is playing at an elite level
McAvoy is awesome

Sweeney has a real shot at making this a contender and address major holes

Do not mess this up

He won't though and thats the issue. I'd almost rather him blow it up than run it back. Build around youth and trade anyone over 30. I would rather this than the same core returning with small or no tweaks.

Anyone who thinks Sweeney was/is going bring in a player via free agency or trade that ends up our highest paid player needs to give their head a shake. Donnys all about his sweetheart deals.

Dadonov will be our big fish because he can be had for <7m aav.

My choice is to add key pieces to put us over the top. If not, do like you say and do a complete overhaul. No more adding minor pieces to an aging core only to continue to come up short.

He will screw this up bigtime....I can see him at this very second hiding under his desk till his 58th pick comes....Then he will crawl right back under his desk.
