Nevermind the cap situation league wide. Literally the worst time ever to ask for a trade.

Newbie NBA fan here, was wondering if non-lottery picks would be like 2nd/ 3rd rounders in hockey, and NBA 2nd round picks would essentially be equated to 4th/ 5th rounders? Seems like the draft picks are always top focused and NBA 2nds get thrown around as filler. Would my comparison be correct, and would there be other considerations that could affect their value? Interested to hear any points.

Horrible look for the Clips. But I expected this from Ballmer who was super desperate for star players and to make his team relevant. Rivers should have shut that down from Day One.

And everyone crapped on the Spurs for telling Kawhi to go kick rocks when he thought he can do what he wanted.

He’s a hell of a player but his attitude has gotten to a point that it’s literally a disadvantage when trying to build team chemistry.

It’ll be hard to change the mindset of both players now that they got everything they wanted.

Glad that primadonna isn’t a member of the Spurs anymore. It’s too bad he’s acting like this because he wasn’t acting like a dick when Duncan, Parker, Ginobili and Pop was around.

Funny how players say this never happened and these reports are bullshit but no one ever posts those. Lou and Bev have both come out to say this isn’t true.

Here’s the thing I think everyone needs to understand. Yeah there’s probably some truth to special treatment for their stars. Acting like that isn’t the norm in a star-driven league is ignorant at best. Also acting like this isn’t wildly over dramatic is also ignorant. I would trust the players though (especially two who you’d imagine are the most vocal and two leaders in the room) over a reporter.

Edit: this also isn’t directly a post to you. More about the situation and some of the posts above yours

oh of course. i'm not gonna deny that lebron and AD get special treatment

but i can see how PG and kawhi getting the treatment they did (if true) rubbed guys like pat bev, lou, and harrell the wrong way considering how hard they worked to get to where they're at now and also the role they had on the 18-19 team. probably didn't feel too good leading a scrappy clippers team to the playoffs one season and then having those two come in and get catered to as much as possible

It's one thing for stars to get preferential treatment from their teams at times. It's another thing for star players to come in basically demanding it as part and parcel of their being there at all.

It's like this ... superstars will get rules bent for them by their teams. But superstars who are also LEADERS, while they may occasionally benefit from privilege, don't abuse that privilege. It's like, if you're of a certain stature you can get away with not caring about practice (a la AI), but a lot of the greatest of the greats were the hardest workers on their team. A guy of Kawhi's stature is able to convince his team be okay with him living hours away, arriving late, and holding up team flights. Doesn't mean he should.

So yeah, let teams off the hook for catering to their superstars, they have no leverage. But don't let superstars off the hook if they push it too far.

Again both Bev and Lou came out and said it wasn’t true.

And I wouldn't expect them to publicly. Just like a bunch of teammates didn't come out to criticize AI for his attitude towards practice, because they knew just as well as you or I do whose side the team would take; no one's gonna back you up, and in the long run if you're a non-star player you don't want to be known as a guy involved in a public feud with a star teammate. When contract time comes, guess who's gone?

However, it also doesn't mean that they were truly fine with everything. But foot soldier types don't have the leeway to rock the boat in a superstar-driven league. You just gotta shut up and take it.

Lol. So then explain how the **** he won an NBA Championship with the Toronto Raptors?

Seemed to build team chemistry just fine over there.

They did what any player would do in that situation. But this isn't the first time its been reported other players were bothered by the preferential treatment.

literally the people that would know said it didn’t happen. The people that are saying it happened are not in the locker room. I don’t know how you’re believing these reporters over teammates.

Why on earth would a player admit publicly if the team had internal problems? That would be in the top 5 list of dumbest things they could do.

Its not like this is the first time the issue has been in the news either. If it was the first time, I could see the argument for believing the players.

I agree it would be a dumb thing but they could have stayed quiet and not said anything. They were not required to say it isn’t true. Again you’d think the players would know better than some reporter.
