It's that time of year to cast your vote for the 2020 HFNHL Award Winners.

Firstly, the ones you already know:

- President's Trophy (points leader, regular season): Florida Panthers (114 points)
- Art Ross trophy (top scorer, regular season): Aleksander Barkov, Carolina Hurricanes (126 points)
- Maurice Richard trophy (most goals, regular season): Aleksander Barkov, Carolina Hurricanes (53 goals)
- William Jennings Trophy (goalies sharing lowest GAA, regular season): Jordan Binnington/Phoenix Copley, Carolina Hurricanes (2.54)
- Prince of Wales Trophy - Tampa Bay Lightning
- Clarence Campbell Trophy - Colorado Avalanche
- Stanley Cup Champion - Tampa Bay Lightning

Now on to the voting process...

We're using google forms again.

2020 HFNHL Awards Voting

Take the time to research and vote on each individual award. Remember, you can't vote for someone in your own organization.

Those teams whose players or staff receive awards earn $500,000 for each honor received... but ONLY if that team participates in the voting process!

If there is someone you feel should win, but is not listed, you can now add them to the poll (type their name in the add option)

Voting will close next Sunday, May 31 at 11:59 EST

Feel free to use this thread to make your award pitches.

Florida Panthers Award Candidates

Steve Wright (GM of the Year) - Brock Otten
While the team did get ousted in the first round by the eventual champions, it should be noted that this year's Panthers had one of the highest single season improvements in HFNHL history, going from 7th last in the league (80 points) to winning the President's Trophy (114 points). In doing so, Florida also was able to re-stock their prospect pool with a quick retool and did not really sacrifice or deviate from the plan to lead the league in points.

Coach of the Year - Rick Tocchet
Tocchet took over after the start of the season didn't start the way Florida wanted. From there, Florida absolutely dominated, rarely losing in the last three quarters of the season. He was the single biggest difference maker this season.

Norris Trophy & First Team Defense All Star - Ryan Ellis
Sure, there were a few defenders who had a few more points than Ellis. But let's look at how truly dominant he was this season for the best regular season team in the league. He was 8th in assists for all players (not just defenders). He was 5th in defenseman scoring. He was +18. He lead the league in shorthanded points on one of the league's top penalty killing units. He was nearly top 10 in minutes played in the league. This guy was an anchor.

First Team Forward All Star & Lady Byng Trophy - Nikita Kucherov
Look, yes he's nominated for the Hart, but I think a certain someone from an East rival should be a shoe in. That said, Kucherov deserves your votes for the year end all star team. He was top five in points and tied for 3rd in goals on the President's Trophy winners. He also led the Panthers in scoring by nearly 30 points and finished the year a team best +24.

Mark Messier Leadership Trophy - Ron Hainsey
Again, the Panthers were such an improved team this year and captain Ron Hainsey deserves a ton of credit for that, especially given Florida's rough start to the year.

Vegas Golden Knight Award Candidates:

Jack Adams (Coach of the year) Mike Sullivan:
This would be coach Sullivans third season at the helm of the Golden Knights. After a very slow start 2-7-2 in the first 11 games of the year, Sullivan coached Vegas to a 97 point season which had them tied for the lead of the Pacific division losing out on a tie breaker for the title. Vegas had the lowest team overall rating (69) of all the leagues playoff teams.

Vezina Trophy (Top Goalie), Hart Trophy (MVP), Calder Trophy (Rookie of the year) Jack Campbell: Campbell backstopped the club to an improbably playoff spot. Finishing with the leagues 2nd best SV% .923 and 8th best GAA 2.56. Campbell face 1944 shots 15th most in the league and the most amongst goalies playing 61 or fewer games. Campbell faced 33.5 shots per 60 minutes as Vegas ranked 27th in shots allowed per game.

Steve Wright Memorial Trophy (GM of the year) Jon Lemoine: Vegas was managed to get into the playoffs and almost win a division title in year 3 under GM Lemoine. Some key moves throughout the year included the additions of Shea Theodore, Tyler Johnson and Anthony Mantha via trade. As well as some veterans that played key roles via trade and waivers Trevor Daley, Alex Steen, Dan Hamhuis and Robert Bortuzzo. While building the club and getting the roster built up to a playoff calibre the club has managed to also have a strong farm system ranked #5 in the leagues annual prospect rankings.

Frank J. Selke Trophy (Top defensive forward) Adam Henrique: Playing the role of the clubs top centre Henrique was often tasked with facing off against the other teams top players at even strength and also played significant time on the penalty kill. Henrique finished the season with a plus 40 (3rd in the league) and put up 85 points in 82 games all while facing the leagues best players night in and night out.

Mark Messier Leadership Award Dan Hamhuis: Shortly after getting picked up off waivers in September Hamhuis asserted himself as a leader and was named team captain. Hamhuis played over 20 minutes a game providing Vegas with a steady veteran influence, helping guide the club to a playoff spot after a slow start.

I can really only make a case for one player. Mika Zibanejad for the Frank J. Selke Trophy. First off, how does a first line centre have a +10 on one of the worst teams in the league? Zibanejad is one of the most underrated players in the league and that stands for his defensive game. If he was playing in HFNHL hockey hotbeds like Florida and Tampa Bay and other warm places, his name would be front an centre. If he was in a big city like New York, there's no way this guy could be as underrated as he is right? Anyways, I'm hoping you'll look into our team struggles, and Mika's success and see how critical he was on the defensive side of the game and award him with the Frank J. Selke trophy. It's been 11 years with no playoffs, give us something to cheer for in Arizona?

The Carolina Hurricanes would like thank everyone who voted.

I would also like to thank current Golden Knights GM for collecting this amazing talent pool I was lucky to fall into.

The Hurricane family is very proud of all of our winners today.

Alexander has promised not to bring this up when his current contract expires.
