Paul Tagliabue, Steve Sabol selected for Pro Football Hall of Fame's Centennial Class

"Former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Donnie Shell and Dallas Cowboys safety Cliff Harris were among the inductees. Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Harold Carmichael, Chicago Bears tackle Jim Covert, Green Bay Packers defensive back Bobby Dillon, New York Jets tackle Winston Hill, Detroit Lions defensive tackle Alex Karras, Chicago Cardinals tackle Duke Slater, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Mac Speedie, Bears defensive end Ed Sprinkle and New York Giants general manager George Young are also among the Centennial Class. Former Steelers coach Bill Cowher and Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson learned they would be a part of the class this past weekend."

So....

Harold Carmichael makes the hall of fame while decorated WR like Cliff Branch and Drew Pearson get shut out, again. Nothing against Carmichael but that’s just wrong, what made the ‘blue ribbon’ committee think he was more qualified than Branch/Pearson?

Randy Gradishar is another one, where is his selection? But hey, gotta put Webster’s baby daddy (Alex Karras) in there cause why not right?

Schell became the 10th member of his team to get in. Pearson is the only member of the 70s All Decade Team not in. Karras was the best DT not in.

Bill Cowher is a pretty big reach for the HOF IMO

This was my initial reaction too.. but I looked at Cowher's record. He's top 20 all time regular season wins. His win % is top 25. He helped turn Pittsburgh around after Noll's extended fade.

One of my primary complaints about Cowher was misplaced confidence in Kordell Stewart.. /peace

20th in wins 24th in win pct. His teams also historically underachieved.

1-4 in AFCCG is also a glaring mark on his resume that his hard to ignore

He was actually 2-4 in AFCCG

Wins
Vs Colts (9-7) - 20-16 (1995 season)
Vs Broncos (13-3) - 34-17 (2004 season)

Loses
Vs Chargers (11-5) - 17-13 (1994 season)
vs Broncos (12-4) - 24-21 (1997 season)
vs Patriots (11-5) - 24-17 (2001 season)
Vs Patriots (14-2) - 41-27 (2004 season)

He made it to multiple SB so having a 2-4 record isn't a glaring mark on his resume

How many have advanced to multiple SB's?

Tom Flores who won both of his SBs and still has been shunned by the HOF

My bad, 2-4 in AFCCG and 1-1 in SBs. I just feel like his teams underachieved. A lot of people have won 1 SB.

Carmichael was a better player than Drew Pearson. Everyone just knows Pearson (and Branch) more because they played for marquee teams.
