Totally agree, but it's still a classic. If you look at the Ebert site it's got the "Great Movie" tag. I don't disagree with everything Ebert ever said (that's another story), but generally I felt his reviews were on the mark.
For sure. I think Ebert was either on the money or way off, with no middle ground.

I like the Coen Brothers too! Just not Big Lebowski. But I also tend not to like LA movies, with some obvious exception. Maybe that’s part of it but I can’t get into it. Hated the ending too.

didn’t see Hail Caesar. All I know is the guy who bombed the young Han Solo role is in it.

To each their own.

He's actually great in Hail, Caesar! I don't think he bombed Solo myself (I find that one to be underrated in the Star Wars world), but he was much better in Hail, Caesar!

Another nice edit. You may want to go back a ways further and read.

Anyway, have a great night.

I think I edited out that you don't know how to read? But I already posted that and it was superfluous.

I read your post, I read the one guy saying he didn't care before you posted what you posted. You said they. It's clear for all to see.

Nope I like them just fine... right now watching Jurassic park. The first one. These are good movies. Godfather convinced the world its a good movie and it seems everyone is afraid to call it crap in fear of being called hater. But honestly it’s soo boring.
Slow yes. Boring? That’s harsh.

You can find it boring like some people dislike Citizen Kane but the impact that those movies had on cinema is undeniable.

@Duchene2MacKinnon I still think Silence of the Lambs holds up. I haven't read the book if that's what you're referring to, but the film is fine. I don't think it's a classic, but it was still quite good.

Generally on the money for me. I found his review of Dead Poet's Society was way off though. That's a movie I've cherished for some time and so that struck a nerve.

I thought Solo was better on re-watch. (Disney + and quarantine makes Savant a dull boy) but I Still didn’t like him. Felt like he couldn’t decide if he wanted to go full Harrison Ford impression or not and got stuck in the middle. Production was a train wreck if I remember correctly too.

I think the problem with Silence is people go into it expecting to see a lot of Hannibal Lecter (rightfully) and that is not what they receive.

Yes, I posted they. Not remotely the point.

They were waay before my time so I don’t know what kinda impact they had.

I was expecting a movie full of suspense and thrill. I got 2hrs of talking.

dead poet isn’t bad... anything robin Williams is at least watchable.

Well it is the main reason why movies like that are revered. Not because people are afraid to say that the Godfather is boring.

What is the main reason?

side note watched fear and loathing earlier last week. Its good but I feel like it’s one of those movies people try to dig deeper and find meaning when there isn’t any. Jmo. Most movies and books are like this. Lol

The Godfather isn't boring, but the first time I watched it was when I was about 15. I saw that before I saw most of the movies and shows that straight up ripped stuff off from it. The same can be said for most of the classics, that there was a time to watch the movie, and if someone doesn't watch it before seeing movies that did the same things badly, there's a chance it's going to be rough viewing.

That the Godfather was influential and changed the medium forever. I think it is fine that you dislike some classics but i just disagreed with your reasoning. I am myself a big Tarantino fan who finds Pulp Fiction to be overrated but i understand it's cultural impact.

That’s fair ... I watched it after seeing Goodfellas, sopranos, casino, scar face and pretty much all the other mafia movies. By the time I got to Godfather I expected it to blow them away.
