Thanks @Ristostadt for another great mock.
U did well for only 5 picks and no 1st Rounders, and drafting FAAABBBBIIIOOO alone gets you an A+ from Bob McKenzie.
Also just wanted to say for those not wanting to wait a month+ for the next mock, I will likely start running a different type of 2020 draft game next week in the meantime if no other mocks are ongoing.
Basically would need 10 or so committed GMs and you would draft a whole team (12F, 6D, 2G) from the 2020 draft.
Did this a couple of years ago and with all this spare time I figured I would try it again to mix it up and pass the time. So just keep an eye out if that sounds of interest to you.
Montreal is pleased to announce that Miguel Tourigny, Marko Stacha and Landon Slaggert will be attending their development camp in the summer.
Wild, Slaggert will also be attending Maples Leafs' Development Camp in early July. As will Mikael Pyyhtia, Cole Cormier, Brady Burns, Kristian Tanus, James Hamblin, and Joseph Garreffa - the latter two have been signed to 2-year AHL contracts.
Alright, better snag some of these guys up, before they commit everywhere else

This was great fun—thanks Ristostadt for all the hard work.
HT to my fellow mockers. I thought the following picks were outstanding:
This still happening?
Thread will be up later today.
The maple leafs draft picks is wrong because they have 11 draft picks this year.
No they dont. They have 10.
No, only 3 7ths. They traded their own 7th in the Patrick Marleau deal.
I can't say that I'm super knowledgeable on the lower guys, but in general I like the positional spread of the picks.
I'd probably target a RHD at 27, but if Schneider and Barron are off the board a forward makes more sense. Not ideal to pick a C with our C depth, but Lapierre has too much playmaking talent to pass up at 27, good pick. Maybe we could convert him to a winger next to Newhook. Shame to miss out on Peterka by 1 pick though, he'd be a perfect fit.
LHD and RHD are good picks with our next two picks. I'd be disappointed though if we passed on Isaac Phillips at 151st and missed out on him by 1 pick at 168th, he looks like a good low-key pickup.
Not sure I'd pick a goalie in this draft. We've drafted 5 goalies in the last 4 draft years and look to have two good ones in Werner and Annunen. Maybe take a swing in the 7th but that's as far as I'd go.
It would be really great if we can pick up a high/mid 2nd rounder this year, there's a lot of talent in that range.
I was hoping to pick your mind a bit here. I'll go round for round.
In light of the Isles already having a pint-sized Russian in Iskhakov in the system, what makes you think they'd use this late, yet their first, pick of this draft on basically a less-heralded repeat who possesses the kind of size that automatically makes it harder to, well, make it?
Looks like a solid yet unspectacular pick at that spot. What do you like most about this kid and why do you see him as a match for an Islander team that looks pretty solid on the blueline, organizationally?
Overage goalie who has a number of supporters out there. Did you pick him because you like what he brings or did you go into this draft thinking the Isles need to add another goalie to the system?
Other than size, I don't see anything about this guy that makes him one of the top 200 players in this draft or even a player who'll be anything but a real long shot. When you only have 10 picks over two summers, you gotta kind to have to make them count. What is your thinking behind this pick?
This kid is a young overager, right? In light of the Isles having already used their last two picks of last summer's draft (in which they also only had 5 picks) on overagers, what motivates you to take a CHLer averaging less than a PPG and doesn't even weigh 165 pounds, especially knowing he'd have to be signed by next summer?
Thank you in advance!
Looking forward to your insight.
All i'm gonna say is that you seem to be criticising his picks quite heavily. Just because you dont agree with his picks doesnt seem right for you to ask for an explanation.
He drafted well with what the picks he had and the whole point of these drafts are that people have fun and you get see which prospects other people like. All prospects are subjective and valued differently by everyone.
We do these drafts to have fun, banter and it gives you a strong understanding of different prospects. I dont mean to come across dickish but every pick he made you seem to have something negative to say.
Starting a conversation in a time where we're all starving for hockey.
If I had come with any intent like the one you're indicating, I would have just written "These picks stink" and been done with it.
PS) It is touching to see a poster with Rangers avatar feeling the need to come to the keyboard rescue of someone making picks for the Islanders in a mock draft.
"Nothing more" may of been your intent but as 5cotland indicated it really did not come off that way. Apparently I took your post the same as he did.
I agree with you that we are all hockey starved and I am sure anyone involved in the Mocks would be happy to discuss their picks, as long as they do not feel attacked for trying to have a bit of fun while gaining prospect knowledge. Just my take on it..
