Assuming All UFA's walk and leafs sign no big ticket free agents or any players at all during the off season.
What would your ideal opening night lineup be for the 20-21 season look like only using prospects and current RFA's / Signed players.

Super curious to see everyone ideal line combos.

Tough exercise with the rules being set.

That would mean we lose
- Barrie
- Ceci
- Spezza
- Clifford
- Gravel
- Wilson
- Aberg
- Salomaki
and don't sign anyone new.

I would have it as this

Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Mikheyev - Tavares - Nylander
Johnsson - Kerfoot - Kapanen
Engvall - Gauthier/Brooks - Barabanov
Extras : Malgin/Agostino

Rielly - Dermott
Muzzin - Holl
Sandin - Lehtonen
Extras : Rosen, Liljegren

Andersen
Campbell
-----

I predict us to trade one of Johnsson/Kapanen, with a LD for a RD to finish out the top 4. Or perhaps we bring in a guy like Hamonic through UFA. My lineup would be pretty different if signings and trades were to occur.

I hope Spezza comes back and Johnsson is traded, and another RHD is brought in

If the Leafs' don't re-sign any of their own UFAs, don't sign any other UFAs, and don't trade for roster players:

Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Mikheyev-Tavares-Marner
Robertson-Kerfoot-Kapanen
Engvall-Brooks-Barabanov

Muzzin-Rielly
Dermott-Holl
Rosen-Lehtonen

Call ups: Goat, Korshkov, Ago, Marincin, Kivi.

Johnsson traded for cap compliance reasons.

Spares-Gauthier/Malgin (neither is waiver exempt, IIRC)

Muzzin-Rielly
Dermott-Holl
Sandin-Rosen

Spare-Marincin (probably something closer to a Rosen-Marincin platoon)

Andersen
Campbell

Realistically, I'd expect some trades or signings. Johnsson traded for cap reasons/too expensive for a third line role and potentially clearing the way for Robertson. Maybe a top six blueliner added. Possibly a better chance for Barabanov (and/or Lehtonen, Liljegren) to make the team, or join over the course of the season, by moving a forward (and/or d-man) that is out of options and on the bubble.

Reilly / Trade
Muzzin / Gudas (F/A)
Lehtonen / Holl
Sandin, Liljegren

In a perfect world, Johnsson, Kerfoot and Dermott get moved to create cap space and in exchange for a legitimate partner for Reilly. Gudas is signed as a steady partner for Muzzin, in a small (opposite of "big ticket") move that contributes to winning. The defense core is significantly upgraded in its ability to play st both ends of the ice.
