I was at that 1991 Vegas game...was crazy hot.

My brother and I were in the casino afterwards and saw some players at the tables and really didn't want to bother any...but Sandstrom got up and went somewhere and on his way back, I said "that was a helluva goal you scored to beat Russia!" (some tournament over the offseason - world championships, I think. he scored a goal for Sweden that beat Russia) and he keeps walking and says "yeah, yeah" he must have been losing at the tables...and here I was, probably one of 3% there, that even knew about his goal. lol.

I honestly never saw anything, but I just assumed--since he had such knowledge of the org and prospects--that he was just there to discuss drafting/development/pro scouting.

The worst traffic was between Denver and CO Springs due to unrelated highway construction. The traffic at the venue was terrible because a recent snow/rain forced them to close a few entry/exit roads because cars would've been stuck otherwise. Thankfully we were staying in CO Springs so once we got out of the lot it was smooth sailing as opposed to the Denver route.

Once we saw how bad the lot was going to be, we just sat at an overlook in the stadium with a few beers and shot the shit with other Avs and Kings fans. We ended up making friends with a Canadian Avs fan couple who thought they'd be able to take a Uber/Lyft home and gave them a ride. Honestly, the traffic wait made for a better story, and we couldn't be bothered after a 3-1 Kings upset!

I was going to go back through and see if there were some posts on Roy in another thread but who would you(and others) compare him to as an overall player? He seems hard to really put in a box at this point but the upside is definitely there. There aren't many 7th round picks who generate this much optimism in fans.

I think the forward lines puzzle is shaking out into two tiers of players, fast skaters and slow skaters. So far, coaches have mixed these types of players. But the recent success of the new fourth line points to a better strategy.

I don't know if there's been any report of line rushes etc today, but the pairings should be DD/Mikey, Roy/Clague, Strand/Maatta. MacDermid should be firmly planted in the press box.

Luckily as far as I know Deslauriers hasn't been traded to the Wild yet.

Carter is slow?

I think the answer is yes just based on skating. After the first two games he looks like he has way less jump. If you consider stick handling and passing then Carter is even worse. His shot is the last thing that has any speed.
