Looks like this is what is going to become of Fox Sports West and Prime Ticket.

Amazing after all these years of running from gambling and casinos for fear of it sullying the game. the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL have all embraced it.
This isn't the teams doing it though. It is their broadcast partner.
Back to your comment, it will be interesting to see if the leagues object to this partnership. Maybe even the Fed government too.

They never allowed Goldenpalace.com to legit advertise, so they resorted to body painted streakers

If you’re a cord cutter in SoCal, the options to watch a local Kings broadcast are slim. We pay for Hulu Live, and they dropped the Sinclair RSNs, and then raised my monthly cost by $10.

We’re still a couple months away from this being an actual issue. I’m hopeful something works out with Hulu. I know a lot of Laker and Dodgers fans have missed TV games since they moved to cable only on a channel only carried by a couple of providers.

It is not looking good fam.
Sinclair has lost their contracts with YTTV, Dish, Sling and Fubo as well

It is time for them to get their heads out of their asses

100%. I have the same Hulu-live issue....after moving from PS Vue and then YT Live. I'm keeping Hulu-live currently due to the NFL season. But once that ends, I am going to dump Hulu-Live and either go without or possibly do Sling (for a cheaper monthly pay). Unless of course one of these bring back the Kings broadcast. Otherwise, I don't know what i'm going to do as an alternative (legal only) to watching King games during the season. I'd probably be willing to pay $10-25/month just to stream King games directly from them. Wish I had that option.

I thought the NHL streaming service was in that price range. NHLTV or somesuch.

Not sure if they geo-lock it and force out of market only like the cable version.

It's so frustrating seeing this kind of stuff be a potential reality, and I'm sitting here thinking when is online poker going legalized in the states (probably never, but who knows.).

I agree, though. I have no quarrels at all paying $10.00 a month just to stream FSN West/Prime Ticket for the purpose of only watching Kings games. I just don't care enough about TV in general nowadays to justify paying for cable. If providers can't give us that option, then we may need to look elsewhere to watch games......

I have DISH and mostly went without the Kings last season. My parents have DirecTV so I used their credentials to watch Fox Sports West streaming via a Fire Stick but this was generally only good when watching the games live. The only fast forward option is a ten second forward deal so if you try to watch it on delay and want to fast forward through intermission, well, that is a lot of clicks. The app would also freeze at times when trying to fast forward so you would have to start over. Depending where you were at, that means you might have to do ten second at a time clicks to try to get back to the start of the 3rd period. f*** that. I would just look up the score at that point.

They do provide replays of the game on the app and those probably show up maybe an hour after the game ends. You can then cast from your phone and use your phone to fast forward wherever you want but that is rough to do for a home game unless you want to stay up all night.

I dealt with it last season because they were horrible. Kingsgifs on Twitter was many times a better way to watch the game than actually watching it. Now they have some young players we want to watch and we haven't seen Kings hockey for what feels like a year, plus I can't go to any games. Really disappointing to read that the streaming options are all feuding with Sinclair as well. I really don't want to have to move away from DISH to get Spectrum, although I presume I could just suspend my DISH account for six months or whatever.

Remember when all of the streaming options were supposed to make this easier and cheaper? What a joke.

That's my concern. I haven't had to look at this option previously since FSW was available. But i thought there was a block for these type of things in local (LA/Kings) markets. If not, i'm totally in. Update: just checked and indeed the greater LA area does block Kings (& Ducks).

Yup. Went to YoutubeTV for Sinclair alone and next thing I know they dropped them.

I did find a way around it though, on an xbox or any other device that can get on Internet Explorer and be hooked up to your TV, I'd just head over to bilasport and stream the games for free in HD off of my xbox. Worked surprisingly well.

Things just get more difficult when you want to watch the game on DVR as opposed to live. We can all find ways to get to it but I want to be able to watch a 4:30 PM start at 6 PM.

Regardless, it is insane that we can't watch our local teams. For those of us that cut our teeth on Kings and Lakers games being on Prime Ticket, it is pretty shocking to have so many providers not carry the channel that the local teams' broadcast rights are attached too. I mean, we went from Prime Ticket to being able to order Center Ice and see every out-of-market game plus the Kings games that weren't on FSW. Then the Kings wound up broadcasting every single game as opposed to the past when they took a few off each season. Now I have like two options to get the Kings games in a "normal" fashion. Crazy. Feels like we are going backwards instead of forwards.

That’s because you’re the lowly consumer. Things make total sense if you look at it from Sinclair’s shitty money-grubbing CEO’s cold, dead, reptilian eyes.

Well, they are just the ones holding the bag in this current environment. They bought these stations at the wrong time since the usual players in cable/sat have been bleeding subscribers. It doesn't necessarily make sense now for these companies to pay the carriage fees for the RSNs. On the flip side, do the streaming services have enough subs to carry these stations while maintaining a cost benefit low enough for people to want to cut the cord? Looks like they don't so they keep raising their prices as well or, in the case of YTTV, dropping the RSNs while also raising the price which is a curious business model.

Everyone sucks, not just Sinclair. DISH hasn't lowered my monthly cost even though they are no longer paying for the RSNs and Sinclair needs to make a return on its investment so they won't just give it away. Selling the naming rights to Bally's helps give them some sort of return but I feel like DISH will never have them back. The obvious move going forward is to make the local RSNs an a la carte deal but Sinclair and the other RSN owners will resist that for as long as possible. Existing cable/sat users that don't care about sports are done with subsidizing the sports networks and the cable/sat companies don't want to piss them off. I feel like they could put a pretty good premium on the RSNs and us sports fans would pay it.

Hell, DISH said goodbye to HBO like two years ago and it is never coming back. They aren't wrong either. If I can pay HBO directly for HBO via streaming, why should DISH pay HBO for it and hope that all of its subs choose to pay for HBO through DISH rather than on their own. It just sucks that we, the consumers, don't have the option of just paying Sinclair $14.99 a month to stream the local RSN like we can with HBO.

It seems like the leagues and teams should get involved since it isn't good for business if nobody sees your games. These teams aren't enjoying tv deals like the Dodgers and Lakers where they took the money for limited availability: they signed the deals in a world where every outlet offered the channels.

I got Kings games on FSW and Prime Ticket for 10+ years until VGK’s inaugural season, after which both channels started blacking out Kings games. Total horseshit.

Wait--are YOU in Vegas, or is it your family in Vegas?

Either way, blackout sucks. Just trying to figure out locale.

And to jump on the current situation, fans can't go in person to watch LA King games. So there is no alternative. It' not like the LAD TV situation from a couple years ago when fans could instead go in-person to watch their team. Not even bars. We can't and won't likely until the following season. Common sense and a long-tern view needs to prevail.....but alas, it won't.

Yeah if even only for this year, blackouts need to not be a thing, and carriers better sack up. I imagine the leagues themselves are going to be a lot more flexible on this as it's their only exposure and revenue opportunity. Even the advertisers have a vested interest in moving that part along

I have no love for Sinclair, but they did just take a multi billion dollar write down on the RSNs.

VPN is a non starter for me. We use apple tvs and I’m not going to jump through hoops to be able to sit down and watch what I want.

I would happily pay $35/mo to watch Kings game on a streaming service.

Connect a Raspberry Pi to your router and get PiHole + ProtonVPN.

I'm actually a little bummed because the NHL seemed pretty innovative back when the shutdown happened. The pointed out how they were going to experiment with different cameras, presentation, etc. To their credit I think they did the best of all the sports leagues, I really enjoyed the product and some of the angles were sweet (the high center ice camera looking at the PP/PK, for example). But you would think they'd be more on top of this going into the next year. Maybe that's one of the last details to be worked out? I don't know. But you would think providers/access would be the least of our worries, with people so hungry for entertainment they shouldn't completely blow it. You would think this would be a great opportunity for a 'virtual ticket' or something like that, even for those who don't have cable/subs. Different ways to bring us to the arena. Something. They basically have carte blanche for experimentation!

That is unfortunately not going to happen

Your options start at $80 per month

Suppose... you could design your perfect TV service
$35 a month isnt happening unless they sign back on with Sling or make it it's own channel like Disney+
