I never understand why these, 3-6th string goalies pay what I can assume is decent money to get a mask painted for the NHL team, as well as the team they actually play on, when in most cases they never sniff the NHL.

Is a paint job really that expensive? Maybe to an everyday person it's a bit steep, but I cant imagine a custom paint job costing an arm n a leg, even to someone on a minor league wage.

They're not that expensive. Under $1500 for the most part, and you can get a paint job for as low as $150. Daveart.com has a place where you can apply to get your mask painted and you choose the budget. The selectable budgets for Daveart are between $1500 and $2500.

Motivation maybe? Goalies are weird, and most of them are gear nerds on top of that.

Sounds like they are also implying that Price may be making some equipment changes for next season as well. Away from CCM perhaps?

Finally a goalie set up that is gorgeous. Love this.

Also, as to why some of the deep depth chart guys get the masks painted? I would think they would have it for pre-season, etc. and also it's a memorabilia item, I would want something to commemorate being a part of a NHL farm system even if I never became anything.

I’ve got one with Ray Bishop right now that will be $1500 all said and done. That’s on the high end of what he offers I believe. It’s very similar to a NHL job he did so I don’t think he goes up much from there.

The painter that does Vasi’s is more, at least at the very top end. But that has stuff I wasn’t interested in like temperature color changing paint and such.

This is they a good year to have 3-6 goalies. NHL is making every team carry at least 3. Time to mask up...
