Just some observations of COVID Hockey ... Looks like Hockey East's Merrimack College is allowing a small number of spectators into Lawler Arena for today's women's game hosting Providence College. In contrast, the UConn men's game hosting UNH @ Freitas Ice Forum this afternoon/evening only has a few players in street clothes & some team staff members primarily up high behind the player benches.

ETA: And the Huskies still use Brass Bonanza as their goal song at home. Always brings a smile to hockey fans. :)

Congrats to the Providence Friars women & their senior goalie Sandra Abstreiter, who shut out the Merrimack Warriors today in North Andover by a 3-0 score. The Lady Friars are now 8-2-1 in Hockey East action for the season, and this victory puts them in first place as they pass the BC Lady Eagles in the HEA standings.

School & hockey pride on display in Hockey East this weekend: The University of Connecticut men's & women's teams each swept a pair of home-and-home games vs. University of New Hampshire. The Huskies men defeated their Wildcats opponents 6-5 in OT on Friday night then 8-3 in regulation on Saturday. The Lady Huskies shutout the Lady Wildcats for the weekend, with 1-0 and 4-0 victories. Congrats to Head Coaches Mike Cavanaugh & Chris MacKenzie for a perfect weekend. :towel:

The Vermont men's hockey team has paused all team activities following a single positive coronavirus test result among the program's Tier 1 personnel. Tier 1 personnel include student-athletes, coaches, managers and support staff. Results were detected during regular coronavirus testing, which is conducted three times a week in accordance with NCAA guidelines.

Vermont's weekend series at Merrimack has been postponed. ...

A look at the big upset of the weekend in women's DI ... NCAA.com: No. 2 Wisconsin women's hockey sweeps No. 1 Minnesota

The Lady Badgers' senior redshirt goalie Kennedy Blair backstopped both games @ UW-Madison's LaBahn Arena, including Friday night's 5-0 victory which gave her 3 shutouts for the season. Senior forward Daryl Watts led Wisconsin in scoring for the weekend pair (3G, 3A), with the Badgers netting a total of 11 goals in this latest "Border Battle" with the Lady Gophers.

Here's a quick look at some sweet goals from Wisconsin's #19 Daryl Watts and #20 senior forward Brette Pettet ...

So I'm assuming the pair of BAH-stuhn broadcasters calling the ME v BU men's games today and last weekend for NESN are the Terriers' regulars? I suppose the fans who listen to them regularly find them charming, but for a first-time listener the color guy stealing (or at least walking over) the play-by-play call on a regular basis gets really annoying. :whatever:

Excellent game this evening between the UConn men & their hosts BC. The Huskies were down 2-0 entering the 3rd and 3-1 with 3:01 left in regulation, then scored 2 goals to tie and push the match to the 3-on-3 OT. UConn dominated the extra period but couldn't put the game away, ending Period 4 with a broken stick shot careening wide of the open side of the BC net. Carrying that momentum into the 3-round shootout, the Huskies took the extra point by beating the Eagles' Spencer Knight on two consecutive shots to "win the 3-3 tie." That's hockey in the 21st Century, folks.
