Voted Menell,

I guess add Luke Johnson since he already has 18 nhl games. Plus for some reason he seems to always develop into a decent role player on NHL 21.

Well, the guy that the team itself seems to prefer just went at #7 so #8-#10 doesn't seem too out of line.
I think Marat was a high ceiling low floor pick by comparison.

ROR has a much higher floor, and still a fairly decent feeling. I think he's a sure thing NHL player by comparison... likely top 4 defender.

I think he's more of a sure thing than quite a few voted ahead of him on the list.

That's a lot of thinking.

I'm sure it's no more than anyone else around here when it comes to hockey. ;)

More than me at least.

The way I see it, this close to the draft, Brackett had a chance to pick either of them, knowing that the other could've been taken with the next pick, and he made his choice. That's good enough for me right now.

We're doing our own rankings though, not Brackett's draft board.

We each have our own criteria on what helps/ hurts a player in said rankings.

Marat being a much higher risk drops him vs ROR IMO. ROR actually benefits a lot by his likeliness to actually reach his ceiling while having a pretty high floor.

People are underrating Menell.

I think he could slide in and take the RHD 2 spot tomorrow if needed.

ROR was a nice pick. Do we see him as a potential top 2 D?

Menell by a mile for me. He is an NHL dman right now and possibly a 2nd pairing D.

I think Brackett is a pretty terrific source of information in this area.

Main point is you think we are all sleeping on ROR and you have some greater insight because he is sitting about where he should be in a poll.

I think you're right on there. Who knows maybe he's our top RHD down the line but I think your projection right now is dead on.

My question for everyone else is where do we project Menell ending up?

I personally believe Menell can walk onto the roster tomorrow after a Dumba trade and take the second pairing RHD spot.

I think everyone is just juiced by a good draft pick, but Menell is ready for the #4 spot today.

Truth is, we have no clue what Menell will do at the NHL level. He might be a tweener, or a bottom 6/PP guy, or a middle pairing/PP guy. I do think that his skills, and Addison's, might mesh very well with Soucy's and Brodin's.
