As good as Matthew Tkachuk is... if i was you, i wouldn't take him.
He is just a bigger, faster, nastier and better version of Jake Virtanen.

Takes super dumb penalties and has a very limited hockey IQ with a short temper/fuse.

He is a really good player (duh), what comes to compete level, skill,
physicality and so forth, but smart hockey player he is not,
you should stay away from Matthew.

Forward group is gonna be just fine even without Tkachuck’s, more important step now is to get Charlie McAvoy since he was great last year and most importantly he is RHD and this team has none. Any of Faulk, Trouba, Pesce and obviously Hanifin would complete this team.

I forgot to say that Johnny Hockey has been horrific during play-off, hopefully he just really wanted to be a part of this WC team :D

JVR is a top 6 player, him on the third line was something I was trying to avoid. I think Kreider fits better in that role with how he plays vs JVR...we will see what Blashill does with JVR, it will be interesting seeing the LW depth we have here.

Kreider is also a top six forward.

He’s also one of the best wingers in the NHL. You left that out.

He takes dumb penalties yes, and he might not be very disciplined. But not low hockey IQ, he's a very smart player on the ice.

Yeah, if I wasn't American I wouldn't take Tkachuk either.

understood, but which one between Kreider and JVR can play a 3rd line role better? obviously this team isn't going to be built as a typical top 6 bottom 6 , we have the talent to role three offensive lines, until we know the rest of the roster just would rather have Kreider running his own third line over JVR..JVR needs to be put into the best situations for him to be effective, Kreider can play a number of roles and do it pretty damn well.

77 point season from a ‘97 winger who lights the rink on fire every dang time he plays.

Jake Virtanen literally had 25 points this year. 25. Matty is legit one of the best wingers in the NHL. You obviously just don’t like him and it shows.

Legitimately one of the best LW’s in the game.

LOL @ this. I'm a Kings fan and can't stand Tkachuk for obvious reasons, but for Team USA I would definitely consider him at least.

He's been very good in the past representing his country. Some players just play better with that USA across their chest.

Virtanen over Tkachuk? WHAT?! Virtanen has been part of the problem in Vancouver, not the solution. Oh, he's out of contract. Well, that explains it. That still doesn't explain what the heck Virtanen does on the national team.

US still have a pretty darn good roster though, Russia as well. Sweden, not so much at the moment.

What he isn’t there is he? Normally he would be decent addition but not this year.

When they have strong roster for the first time in 50 years doesn’t mean there is some special caring in US. Thing is that junior system improved massively and producing more talent than ever, also there are players that represent almost every year. And finally in times when it’s uncertain if there gonna be any best on best tournament, this is the best shot to represent their respective countries.

How does it seem about Johnny and others, any info?
so far nothing - Johnny Hockey I would say is 50/50 with a short exit..

I think Justin Braun for the Sharks would be a target if eliminated tonight.

McDonagh, Tyler Johnson, Hanifin - all legit options waiting on as well..

Tkachuk bros...who knows...

I would say Matt is gonna be out with him not having a contract. Unless he gets signed to one in the next week or two that is basically a lock for a player to turn the tournament down.
