2019 TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING TRAINING CAMP​

The Tampa Bay Lightning today announced their 62-man roster for the 2019 Training Camp, presented by Florida Blue, which opens on Thursday at AMALIE Arena with medical and physical testing. The roster features 33 forwards, 21 defensemen and eight goaltenders.

Also in camp will be 21 players that represented the Lightning in the 2019 Prospects Showcase which took place this past weekend in Nashville. Players are expected to begin the media day portion at approximately 10 a.m. after testing is complete, although that time is subject to change.

The Lightning's annual Fan Fest, presented by Florida Blue, will still be held on Sunday, September 15 at AMALIE Arena, with doors opening at 11 a.m. to the general public and 8:30 a.m. for Season Ticket Members. The event is free and open to the public, but fans must obtain a mobile ticket by visiting TampaBayLightning.com/LightningLaunchWeekend.

What I like about this organization, not sure how other ones do it, is that they are loyal to guys they really don't need to be. Someone like Lynch who missed all last year with injury is brought back to try to show what he can do and he probably gets an AHL deal out of it. Walcott wasn't a Tampa pick but was acquired before turning pro, he never made it to the NHL and has had several season ending injuries but they keep rewarding him with deals and bringing him back. They kinda did similar with guys like Angelidis and Cote as guys who really weren't NHL quality but hard working vets who they liked keeping around when they could of easily let them go somewhere else. Nice to show prospects that just because you aren't good enough to make the NHL you could still be wanted by an organization and rewarded for your hard work.
