The Florida drop from ‘16 to ‘17

And the Edmonton from ‘17 to ‘18

Probably more, but it does feel like there tends to be at least one. Who’s the big sinker this year? Any guesses?

What makes you think that the Blues would be prime candidates to fall?

I mean other than your comically persistent hate on all things Blues related that is. Have you ever defended your "opinions" on the Blues, or do you always just spew bull **** and leave?
Theyve consistently been ranked too high and seen as a team thatll go far or do something yet every year is the same dam result. This year was even worse as they failed to even make the playoffs lol. One more year of that and maybe thatll convince enough people here they shouldnt be these HFBoards darlings that get so highly ranked with NO justification

I still laugh at Winnipeg at #2 over the Penguins or Capitals. HF seems to be more concerned about how a roster looks on paper than how it actually performs on the ice.

How Toronto isnt a top 3 team is beyond me. Im beginning to learn this site has some extreme bias

Because they haven't won a playoff series since before Crosby and Ovechkin were in the NHL.

Who are these elite playoff performers the Leafs have that makes them a top 3 cup team? I can't name one

In your head
Toronto is the best Toronto number 1 woop woop

Also I'd tend to look at the Vegas odds as there's actually money in play whereas HFboards are mostly salt based

Okay, how well did those two compare to Winnipeg in the standings last year? How about Pittsburgh... How far did they get in the playoffs compared to Winnipeg?

I understand if you want to give a large amount of credit to the past few SC winners, but not everyone is going to weigh that aspect as heavily skewed towards it as you with everything else involved. I'd recommend to at least understand that. Calling it a lack of performance is... well, disingenuous

Earth
Top 10 looks about right. The Pens are still the biggest wild card to me. I'd be surprised if Vegas is still ranked that high by the midway point next year. Can't see them being anything close to what they were last year.

I’m cool with the list. Winnipeg is a bit high and Washington is a bit low but solid.

Boston is overrated right now
No, they were ranked where they should be. What will make them perform worse than last year based off what happend this offseason? If anything more younger guys with more experience learning from classic vets like Chara and Bergeron will lead Boston to an even better season IMO. They have winners there, teaching new super talented young guys the lessons, the sacrifices and what it takes. A ton a young talented guys there: Macavoy, Debrusk, Pastanck, Heinen, Carlo, Bjork, Etc.

THIS.

The Leafs aren't favorites because teams that had nothing to do with today's team were bad.

Btw, I just looked up Stanley Cups won by each franchise, apparently Montreal is amazing and clearly better than everyone, so using history as my evidence, I take the Habs as early favorites.

Give me the team who placed 3rd right behind Tampa and Boston with a worse defense and before Tavares

Toronto will win the East

Yet still have the worst defense of any of the top teams in the east. Washington, Pittsburgh, Tampa, Boston are all still better. Gonna be hilarious watching Toronto get blasted out of the playoffs by Boston yet again.

There is no 'and'. That ends your conversation right there. Couldn't even beat the lowly VGK team that Washington chewed up and spit out like they were nothing. Ask us caps fans about regular season standings and/or point totals. In the context of SC favorites, it doesn't matter one bit.
