Offensively there are a lot of very talented players in this crop and Tinling is definitely one of the best of that group. It’s much easier to teach a kid to play 200 feet than it is to teach a kid to score goals…

These are my top forwards at this point:

Josh Roy
James Malatesta
Dovar Tinling
Israel Mianscum
Nathan Gaucher
Zachary L’Heureux
Robert Orr
Justin Robidas
Tristan Roy
Alexis Cachero
Olivier Nadeau
Hugo Audette
Julien Hebert
Jonathan Delorme
Charles Boutin
Massimo Gentile
Dylan Champagne
Charles Savoie
Samuel Champagne
Mathis Cloutier

As much as we could debate on who else deserves to be on the list for the top 20 forwards, the debate on Defence turns to who doesn’t belong. These are the ones I like:

Charles-Alexis Legault
Thomas Lachapelle
Charles-Emile Duciaume
Nicolas Pavan
Marc-Antoine Pouliot
Edouard Carrier
Olivier Archambault
Charles-Antoine Pilotte
Guillaume Nadeau
Vincent Trudel
Jeremy Cadieux
Olivier Boutin
Felix Paquet
Emile Chouinard

I have to agree with that. In my opinion, the 2003 crop is the best from Quebec in many years.

For FWD I am in line with the overall comment however I see Cachero, Nadeau and Robidas higher in the list.

On D beside your top 2 picks the players are average so ranking them is difficult. Not many big Dmens that can skate so far. I see only one, hopefuly we will be surprised this season. For now the level on D is not as competitive as what I see up front, which is not unusual for the position.

Saw Magog vs Trois Rivieres yesterday, and a guy I loved in LHPS M16 last year is coming over to play for Estacades. Zachary Bolduc. He's going to be a solid top 2 rounds player in my opinion. Looked just as good as Robidas and Tristan Roy.

Tristan’s Roy has fallen off apparently. There’s a couple kids in the area who tore up LHPS for years cause they didnt belong..

I believe Cameron McDonald is taking the NCAA Route he’s currently heading to South Kent Prep to play hockey so he isn’t really an option at this point. Would’ve been a REALLY good player though.

Joshua Roy got 4 goals tonight against Amos. He now got 5 goals and 7 points in 3 games in the Midget AAA. He will probably get a lot of attention leading into the next QMJHL draft.

Roy's teammate, Olivier Nadeau, also stood out last weekend. With 6 points in 2 games, he's now 3rd in scoring in midget aaa. His physicality and vision are also great. I could see both of them being picked in the top 3.

South Kent does not necessarily guarantee he's going the NCAA route; last season both Josh Lawrence and Charlie DesRoches played at South Kent and both returned to the QMJHL and signed with the Sea Dogs after the draft.

I'd say Roy and Tinling are the clear top 2 in my viewings. Richard, Bolduc, Nadeau and Robidas have been great and are in my next group. Boutin from Levis and from QC are both very good. Orr has been just okay. Duciaume, Lacourse-Dion, Delorme, Carrier, Ste-Marie and Belchamber probably don't belong in the top 25 conversation right now. Malatesta has been surprisingly very bad in my viewings, not sure what's up with him, had him top 3.

So right now, I would say Huchette (STH), Charles Boutin (SSF), Charlie Truchon (ND), Diotte (STH), Pavan (LSL), Lachapelle (CEB), Gill (STE) and Guevin (TR) are players you could consider for top 25 that aren't on that list. It's been a surprising year. Lachapelle and Malatesta are my biggest disappointments to start the year. Surprises include Olivier Boutin, Mikael Diotte, Zachary Bolduc which are all in my current top 10, and they weren't in my top 15 before the season started.

Duciaume has great size but lacks any type of puck skills to become more than a solid shutdown (which is fine, just not that high), he isn't close to Biakabutuka last year. Ste-Marie has high hockey sense but not very dynamic player, Charles Boutin is the guy I'd look at on that team. Carrier I like very much but I think should be a bit lower. Huge fan of Gentile but he's so freaking small, very creative and smart though. Delorme is fast and competes but very small and I don't see much else in his game that makes him a potential high pick, comparable player to Belisle last year at best. Don't think Lacourse-Dion is more than a middle round pick too. Belchamber is interesting, but too high for my tastes. I guess you could say I'm not a fan of the Gatineau players this year haha. Can't post my list but that's pretty much my opinion on the players listed that don't really belong there in my opinion!

Cameron MacDonald is putting up freakish numbers for Selects Hockey Academy 15U. On pace for nearly 75 goals and 120 points. Anyone see this kid play this year? What is the quality of competition like in this league?

Good list, anyone affected by injuries ?

I’m surprised you don’t have Cachero on this list.

Bolduc plays for Trois Riveres, where do you rank Pellerin, Pilote and Audette.

Great thing about melanson...he was amazing in bantam, and after having a slow start he is adjusting to midget and now passing a point per game and is way past that now...I have seen him 0lay many times the kid is a star in the making
