Used to have a place in Narragansett for summer vacations. Had the great pleasure of reading Shawn McAdam's writing in the Providence Journal daily.

Made me think of the line from "Piano Man": "Man, what are you doin' here?"

I don’t see how the Yankees can beat the Astros especially if Carlos Correa is back.

    I’m going

    Astros vs Nationals

    Astros

It likely involves getting 5 games of a 7 game series to be tied after 4 innings, and at least one absolute curbstombing against Verlander where the Yankees have to let their starter and last guy out of the bullpen allow 19 runs.

It was essentially the same thing they needed last year in the ALDS, which goes to show why the Astros should be heavily favored in that match up this year, because you need to flip almost all of your close games your way and you can't get cuffed by Rick Porcello.

Boone needs to have learned his lesson from last year. The only Yankees starter I'd feel comfortable having any rope after the first time through the order is Paxton. Guys like Severino, German, Tanaka, Happ should be twice through the order and done, and quite honestly, a right handed reliever should probably open every game against the Astros, so your starters are only facing the top once.

In the last 2 years Yelich has averaged a 171 OPS+. I wanted to see how that compares with other players' 6th and 7th seasons from 1920 to 2019. Let's just say he's in good company as you can see below:

Im guessing pull of a competent Mookie trade or rebuild the rest of the team around what we’d have already if both guys left.

They aren't losing draft pick positioning, that's really all that matters.

The Red Sox Cannot Justify Trading Mookie Betts

    Could be but shouldn’t be

They can pretty easily keep Betts and JD and reset

Then once that happens pay Betts and pitching

For Yaz, ‘it’s definitely going to be emotional’ seeing his grandson at Fenway
    By Dan Shaughnessy

In the old days, it would have been Sherm Feller, Fenway’s voice of God, making the majestic announcement from upstairs in the PA booth.

Now batting . . . Number 8, Carl Yastrzemski. Left field. Yastrzemski.

Tuesday night at Fenway Park, Henry Mahegan will do the honors when Giants outfielder Mike Yastrzemski (No. 5 in your program) steps into the same batter’s box where his grandfather, Carl, stood all those years ago.

“It will be the first time since 1983 that the name ‘Yastrzemski’ will be announced,’’ says Grandpa Yaz, now 80. “It’s definitely going to be emotional. To see him come into Fenway Park where I played for 23 years, to have his name announced, that will be a great thrill for me.’’

The Red Sox are all about history. They play in a 107-year-old baseball museum that has essentially become part of the Freedom Trail. The Sox provide daily conversation and connect generations. We may be a Patriots town today, but nobody is ever going to wax poetic about holding their dad’s hand and stepping around pools of vomit the first time they walked up the stands at old Foxboro Stadium. With the old Boston Garden long gone, Fenway stands as our last local sports cathedral.

Pirates closer Felipe Vazquez arrested on solicitation of a child

Big yikes. Arguably the games best reliever probably will not be playing baseball anymore

Don’t let the door hit you in the Ass on the way out creep

Pirates fans would've said the same about Vazquez......yet his crimes apparently go back over 2 years.

MLB: Pirates' Felipe Vazquez arrested for solicitation of child

Agents from the FDLE and Pennsylvania State Police took Vazquez into custody in Pittsburgh on Tuesday morning on one count of computer pornography – solicitation of a child – and one count of providing obscene material to minors.

The FDLE said its investigation began last month when agents became aware of a sexual relationship and a 13-year-old female victim, who is now 15. The two continued having a relationship over text messages, and the child received a video in July from Vazquez "in which he is shown performing a sex act." Vazquez also sent texts insinuating that the two would meet up after the baseball season for sex.

Makes you wonder if that’s what the fight with Kyle Crick was about in the Pirates clubhouse.

Unless I’m way off base

Edit : it was over music in the clubhouse but not surprised Vazquez is an ******* all around

I hope NESN shows Yaz when his grandson comes up to bat. What an incredible moment for both of them.

Not to take the pedophiles side about the music thing but Crick was bumping it during a team agreed upon quiet time iirc. Crick’s been a ***** all season and it culminated with that.

Kinda wish crick cracked him harder now tho

My pirates fan friend. My poor friend. I haven’t seen him this low in awhile. At least before they made the playoffs a few years back he never got his hopes up...now he has some hope every year and it gets stomped. Sad to see.
