Have now upgraded from a 40" tv to a 65" tv. Xmas present to myself. Mrs. PC isn't too enamoured with it...but after Black Friday she accepted that she can't very well stop me from buying things with my own money. She did have a point, though. It now dominates the living room. When it's off I feel like a monkey looking up at the monolith in 2001.

*edit* Wal-Mart. Best deal in town. 65" RCA tv, full 4k HD, 3 HDMI inputs...$498 before tax. And before the bungee cords I needed to strap down the hatch in the back of my car to get it home.

*editedit* Wal-Mart...soulless corporate vampire, ruining our world, destroying the middle classes...OMIGAWD look at these prices!! How do I not shop for everything here?!

Well another fairly successful Christmas has come and gone for my Family. We manage to pull a rabbit out of our arses given the cost of everything this year.... gas, food, clothes, electronics..... three rapidly growing teen agers with just about every system, game, labled hoodie, doo dad, doo-hickey and whatch-a-ma-call-it on the market already.

One thing that stood out this year is the awkwardness of having Christmas on a Tuesday. It was really hard to get a feel for what day it was and peoples work schedules were all over the place making visiting family and shopping more difficult to organize. I'm sure it will be similar next year when Christmas lands on a Wednesday.

Agreed about Tuesday. At my employer, we get out early on Christmas Eve, and then we get Christmas and Boxing Day off - then back to work today and tomorrow, then the weekend, then we get out early on New Year's Eve, get New Year's Day off, and back in for Wednesday/Thursday/Friday of that week. Makes for a very discombobulated sort of feel to the holidays.

I have the same schedule. Definitely feel out of sorts right now

Bing watched Goodfellas, Casino and the Godfather. UNREAL movies, a lil conspiracy theory with the connection to politics for my liking but pretty sweet well put out together movies

So...I learned a couple of things lately. One, never brag about good deals until you've got everything plugged in and working. Two, somewhere along the line RCA stopped being a reputable brand of electronics. Oh well, live and learn. Now enjoying my new 55" Sharp Aquos tv bought somewhere other than f***ing Wal-Mart. The speakers are actually tolerable to listen to, there aren't big weird grey patches on the screen when I watch hockey, and it's not looming over my entire living room.

Hmm, I didn't realize that about RCA either. Legendary company, Elvis was on the roster of their record label. Oh well; enjoy your new Sharp Aquos tv I guess.

I like to pretend Casino and Home Alone are part of the same continuity and that both of Joe Pesci's characters are the same person - Nicky Santoro's death was just a warmup for the further abuse endured in Home Alone
