One for the "no ****, sherlock" file, but it does set up a potentially interesting scenario going forward; Bucks GM Says Giannis Antetokounmpo Will Be Offered Supermax Contract in 2020

Raises a lot of questions and probably raises the stakes on this upcoming season for the Bucks considerably. How much is enough for Giannis to consider staying? The Bucks are in a great spot to make a title run with the East while having a handful of great teams, no true dominant, favorite type team. Not to mention the Bucks will be bringing back essentially their entire squad from the past year sans Brogdon, which was a 60 winner and 2 games away from the NBA Finals. On top of that, Giannis seems happy in Milwaukee and doesn't seem to want to lust after the spotlight. So in theory, all you really need to do is just give him a chance to win and he should be content enough to stick around

And then of course there's the worst case scenario. What if Giannis doesn't want to sign? Do the Bucks try and ride it out and contend until the very end or do they look for a presumably gargantuan haul for their star?

They probably ride it out. Teams prefer to keep the guy then move him at the deadline or before the season where he is an impending free agent, specifically when its a player of his caliber. Gilbert could have acquired anything for Bron in 2010 but knew the right move is to keep him and try to go all the way.

I know Vince has said he doesn't want to ride the bench to an easy ring, but I do hope he can find one somehow.

And it may be wishful thinking, but I do think Giannis might be the type to stick with Milwaukee and not chase the big market. As long as they take care of him, help him take care of his family, and put him in a position to compete, I think he has the character to stick around.

Again, might be wishful thinking. But I certainly have a lot more belief in him sticking around than if the Bucks had a number of other big names talents over the years.

So now NBA teams can't even publicly discuss future contracts about their own players.

from espn.com

The Milwaukee Bucks have been fined $50,000 for violating league rules that prohibit teams from discussing future player contracts, the league announced Tuesday.

The fine is in response to comments that Bucks general manager Jon Horst made about Giannis Antetokounmpo's contract at a televised town hall on Sept. 12, when he said that the Bucks plan to offer Antetokounmpo a supermax contract worth $253.8 million, the largest in NBA history, next summer.

The collective bargaining agreement stipulates that team officials cannot commit to offer a player a supermax contract until he has played seven seasons. Antetokounmpo, who has played six seasons, will be eligible to sign a supermax contract in July 2020.

I saw a grey tennis court recently on tv. It was weird. It looked like the players were the only thing in color.

Lamelo is a contender for the #1 pick.

Clickbait article. There's no way he goes top-5.

Looking forward to seeing him live this year.

Agreed as usual. Kobe won 5 rings, 2 w/o Shaq, and is the best post-Jordan player. I love Robinson, but he needed Duncan to win a ring. One man army Olujuwon was the 2nd best player in the 90s and won back to back rings when the 2nd best player on his team was Otis Thorpe or an ancient Drexler.

LeBron over Kareem and Magic!?! Kareem won 6 rings and 6 MVPs and is considered top 2 all time and Magic won 5 rings and is considered top 2 among players who entered the league after 78-79.

I'm sure the sports shows will spend all day tomorrow blathering about that shit (player rankings), because that totally matters in todays game. But at least for them their God known as Michael Jordan came out #1.

The Hornets have $182 million in guarantees, but where are the great players?

He's in Boston nowadays.

Russell over Chamberlain was also a good one.

Curry over Olajuwon just screams what have you done for me lately.... I love Shaq but not sure if he's 6. Then Kobe at 14 is the cherry on top  ... Curry ahead of him? Really?
