Players drafted high out of the BCHL have had mixed success at reaching their pre-draft hype, but Newhook's U18 tournament thus far is encouraging..

hes also committed to Boston College. I do like him a bit more because hes from Newfoundland (where i live) and it would be exciting to cheer for a kid from my home province on my team

I'd be happy with Brinks or York. If we can get a 2nd I'd like Legare. I like Kaliyev but he's probably too much of a risk for where we'll be picking. And fo course when they inevitably pick a bunch of guys I've never seen or heard of before I'll absolutely lose my ****.

Have come down just a taste on York. Think he’s behind Harley now, with Heinola. Wouldn’t be upset picking him though.

If they add a pick there, hoping for Rees/Beecher/Fagemo in round 2. Would love Poulin if he slips too. Don’t know much about Legare tbh.

Prospects board is pretty high on him. A few have said they expect him to go before 15 or so OA

Yeah, can’t see him top 10 because end of the day he’s a 5 foot 7 one-trick pony (a really f***ing good one tho); but unfortunately don’t think he’ll slip to us. Be great if he did though.

we might have a chance for him he wont go as high as Harley although he seems to be still moving up

As far as a style... Who is Caufield closer too? Skinner or Pacioretty.

One more of a skater... The other a little more grits and gravy

Things are lookin' up!

DAL vs STL in Round 2 means we just moved from pick #23 to pick #22 in the 1st rd of the draft this year. Both finished with less points than us but since one is guarenteed to go to the Western CF now, the team that gets there goes from picking before us to after us.

If Vegas beats SJ we move up to #21.
If SJ wins, we'd need COL to beat SJ to move to #21.

To move up more we need CBJ or CAR to reach the Eastern Conference Final.

16-20,28-31 Sabres or Ducks (from Blues)
17-20,28-31 Hurricanes
18-21 Rangers (from Jets)
19-22 Penguins
20-23,28-31 Kings (from Maple Leafs)
21-24,28-31 Sabres or Ducks (from Sharks)

This is definitely an unusual year, in that 3 out of 4 division winners are already eliminated in the first round, and the fourth division winner is at least going to a game 7! (Go Hurricanes! If only to help our draft pick!)

Hell will freeze over before the Pens draft another Russian player...idk why, but my guess is they really can’t stand skilled players anymore and want “pushback”...

So we need teams with less regular season points than the Pens to make the conference finals, as regular season seeding stays in effect until the third round?

Ie Blues, Jackets, Canes, Vegas, Stars...

Hell will freeze over before the Pens draft another Russian player...idk why, but my guess is they really can’t stand skilled players anymore and want “pushback”...

The new "get to our game" is now "pushback".

Kind of ironic given that Sullivan's mantra was "just play"

Dorofeyev played in the MHL and his production there is way better than even Podkolzin's.. not sure what to make of that though. Because he's a bit older? All PP points? Much better linemates? Different division? Don't know much about the MHL.

Spent more time in the KHL too.

I swear if we blow our pick on a 6'4" defensive defenseman...
lol i'll make your proposition even worst, imagine that D guy of yours was mobile, good speed with piss poor passing abilities.

Seriously though, i hope for either a puck moving D with offensive upside or a Forward gem in the making, preferably a short term project.
