Gut reaction. I think Vegas, Carolina, and us had really high quality drafts.

Colorado, Los Angeles, the Rangers were also winners in my book.

Big losers were Columbus, Calgary, the Isles. Edmonton saved themselves with Lavoie in the second, but the rest of their draft was downright atrocious.

Arizona also screwed the pooch a bit. Trading up and giving up the #45 pick (who turned out to be a high-caliber prospect in Afanaseyev) to move up three spots and take Soderstrom -- the Flyers traded down and got a defenseman who is just as good in Cam York in a similar style of game. It's really time for John Chayka to be on the hot seat in Arizona -- he's had chance after chance to fail.

Forgive me but I pray we DON'T end up with a Top 15 - 20 pick(or better) next season.

I want some Playoff Hockey again.

Didn't see sakic, but saw Bob Murray, Todd McLellan, and John Chayka. About to take off to Seattle and Chris Terreri is randomly on my flight.

These past 2 days were crazy ! Glad I got to watch the Hughes pick live from work. The excitement of getting Subban to our fans getting annoyed with Shero trading down twice showed how emotionally we are invested with this team lol. Glad we stocked up on D and managed to snag a few players who fell a round or two. I have a feeling McCarthy could be a steal for us.

Your feeling would be correct since he should've been selected far earlier than he was and Shero took a big risk in rolling the dice against the chance he'd be selected by another team.

Fortunately for him, he won that gamble.

What is the general consensus here on our draft? Besides Hughes and the trade for Subban.

I know nothing of Okhotyuk, Misyul, Clarke, Vukojevic etc.

I thought the trade with Sharks was bad, not good value for a high pick like that and because there were some good players available at 55 that I wanted, and at 61 instead of Okhotyuk, but I can't really say so much about it since we don't know as much as the scouts.

I thought that move down was not good value at all but it's w/e. Other than the Thompson pick this was an A+++ draft. We got HUGE value picks with Moynihan, McCarthy, and Pasic. Okhotyuk and Vukojevic filled huge need for big and strong d-men. Clarke fills a big need for RW sniper. Misyul is a very interesting prospect, huge potential.

I could give two ***ts about the Isles' draft (or anyone else's) after Hughes and Subban to be honest, but you could almost bingo-ball the entire draft after 2 with the way things were going. Or at least start the bingo ball machine after about 17-18.
