That's just ridiculous.

The simple fact is that Bergeron was voted as the midseason winner by the same damn people who voted at the end of the season while having a better midseason to end of season then any single player on that entire list.

Dumb

While I don't think it's the be-all, end-all, Bergeron has played 64 and 65 the past two seasons. And the winner has played 81 (Kopitar) and 82 (O'Reilly). If Bergeron plays 80+ in either of those year's he wins at least one out of two. Maybe both.

It may not matter to me or you, but the games played matters to some voters.

Yes, games played is a big factor in any award voting.

But there are historical comparables.

Bob Gainey won 2 Selkes in seasons he played 64 & 66 games. Kris Draper won one in a season he played 67 games.

I cancelled The Hockey News years ago, and Ken Campbell was part of the reason why.

That being said, even though the voting takes place before the playoffs, my unpopular opinion is O'Reilly was better when it mattered most, which was also head-to-head with Bergeron. The Blues were better 5 X 5.

I'm just sad Bergy had to fly all the way out there just to come up short yet again.

Dave Poulin, That's Odd. I've heard Poulin say in the very recent past, that he thought Patrice Bergeron was the best all around player in the game but yeah screw Fluto I mean what the hell, has he been watching. The Jacobs should ban him form ever entering TD Garden again:thumbd:

Also depends on what was their competition for the award in those years.

It's not the be-all end-all, but games played matters to some voters. Especially when you get south of 70 games. Voters see that "6" as the first digit and for some it hurts their support of Bergeron for the award.

Only possible explanation is, Fluto's been trying food cooked with cannabis infused oil.
