Never trade for specialists and try not to draft them outside of the 7th round either, especially if you're the Vikings. There was a mini bidding war for this guy, the Vikings give up a 5th to get him, and he's immediately broken.

Kickers are weird so I don't know what the issue is but I'd lean towards it being on the Vikings side. They also used a 5th on Carlson last year, he couldn't make a kick so they cut him, and he has gone 34/35 on FG and XP with the Raiders since then.

Very few kicks are with the team they signed with out of college. Seems that’s they need to fail to build up the mental game to do well on their next stints.

Can’t imagine the return will be super high. What is the highest return someone on the franchise tender has returned for a team?

If it’s Miami, I don’t think they are moving picks for a DE about to start his 6th season if they haven’t cemented their starting QB.

They face Dallas too between them, so Lawrence is there as well. I think this the right move for Washington. Don't throw Haskins into the fire in tough matchups.

I’m guessing he can do long-range too.

Sometimes it’s just mental, the Vikings have been having issues and the microscope has been on them. Dan Bailey was great for years and then had a groin injury and never made it back. The Bears brought in kickers and they couldn’t hit anything in their workouts.

Matt Bryant is still out there too which makes less sense than any of this.

They should try to keep him if the return isn't high. Getting a 2nd round pick for him doesn't help them this year unless it allows them to make another trade for a position of need.

That'll probably be the case but he didn't punt all that well in his one preseason game either and Zimmer made it a point to mention how well both Bailey and Wile have done since his addition.
