yes but a vaccine is over a year away. is the goal to flatten the curve for a year?

Yes, protect the vulnerable until a viable vaccine comes out. If we don't do so millions more will die than necessary. There are not enough ventillators in this world for all the potential cases and the impact on other curable/treatable conditions would be quite significant. (People will die of preventable diseases due to ressources shifted for COVID). The only other option is to say screw it and act like blood isn't on our hands when more people die in one instance than any other time in history.

The problem is being in quarantine for a year is completely unsustainable. Many businesses will go into shutdown mode eventually and money will dry up.

I understand its only thing they can do but its a pretty crap plan. It's basically shut everything down and hope for the best for over a year.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, we can rebuild the economy, not so much human life. This could also help force companies to change the way they work in the digital era. Essentially we are all likely going to get it but it just can't be all at the same time if we want to preserve as many lives as possible.

Damn virus also eradicated all those “a man walks into a bar” jokes. With this levity option gone, your service will thrive. :sarcasm:

Agreed although desperate measures might cause more than damage to the economy. It might cause a shortage of critical resources.

Again, there is no alternative. That's what sucks.

Nowhere land
Take Amazon boxes you get and put them away for 4 days. Wash your hands.

But if you're going to worry about that, worry about everything you get at the grocery store, Costco, etc.
It's better to but local. Less virus coming here (if they live in boxes) and help the local economy to survive financially. We'll have less money so let's keep it all here. How many billions or our economy got to Seattle with Amazon?
