Anderson is kinda surprising at 5, I thought for sure it would've been Talvitie. Regardless I went with Talvitie and think Walsh is probably 7th.

I tend to think Anderson and Talvitie are fairly similar prospects/players, but Anderson is a couple years further along in his progression.

Gets a little trickier now but I'll stick with my guns and go with Misyul.

Add McCarthy

Speers had 8 points in 43 games for Albany last season. Regardless of who else has come into the organization, Speers has shot himself in the foot with his play.

I don't know if him almost making the team out of camp was a fluke, but he definitely set high expectations for us and probably the organization after that.

Talvite, add Gignac.

I think that's the first "add" vote that's not unique, it's almost impossible to sort the prospects at this point, these are all guys that have a lot of talent and a lot of uncertainty.

Edit: sorry McCarthy has gotten a couple of votes.

Speers, Quenneville, and McLeod are all guys that held onto their status as top prospects long beyond the point where writers and analysts should have adjusted their expectations. Speers and Quenneville are clearly not NHLers. McLeod has an outside change at hanging around the league as a tweener, but he is not going to be an impact player.

What surprised me is Anderson is up at #5, and in the same poll Bastian got one single, lone vote. I actually consider them neck and neck.

is it getting deeper, or are the new guys just shinier new toys with all the potential in the world, while people like him and seney haven't really moved their stock up?

Since he got drafted in 2015, it's definitely much much deeper. 2016 and 2017 were massive drafts for us, 2019 looks to be good too and even though it's early there are a few picks I'm very excited about (like Misyul who I voted for here). He also hasn't moved his stock up, so it's a bit of both.

And him scoring 9 points In the AHL.

Yeah he hasn't helped himself much but there's no question our prospect pool is just so much deeper now. Especially from the time Speers got drafted, it's been like a 180 to the farm system.

Speers would be pretty far down the prospect list even in the darkest days. At no time in the Devils' history was someone who was a 4th liner/AHL extra one of their top prospects.
