Theres no way in hell Seney Gignac and Zetterlund should be over our recent 60th range pick in Ohkotyuk

Ohkotyuk doesn't have top pairing upside. He's a reach for second pair and is probably a third pairing defender if he makes it. He's a good pick because we need big, physical defensemen on this team, but that doesn't make him a better prospect than Fabian Zetterlund, who has a good shot at becoming a physical, middle six winger. If not for his injuries, Zetterlund is probably higher.

Our prospect pool is very deep, so a guy like Ohkotyuk won't rank very high on a top 20 list, but that doesn't mean he's not a good prospect.

No offense because I get the list is entirely personal opinion....

But lets not act like Castron drafted a nobody with the highest pick after Jack. He was taken for good reason and should easily be voted over late round picks who havent done much to improve their standing - theyve just done enough to not regress

The guy was literally just drafted and somehow Misyul goes in but Ohkotyuk cant hit top-20? Literally makes no sense

Caveat I'd add here is maybe Misyul fell a bit because of Russian factor?

But I agree the idea that Okhot is likely a 3rd pairing guy at best is a strictly a fan's opinion. And one that I assume is at odd's with our scouting dept(granted it does appear they were targeting a very specific style of defenseman, so maybe they do see him as low ceiling but high likelihood prospect?).

On the other hand I think it's fine if a fan has a different opinion then the scouting dept.

No offense taken, haha. Okhotyuk isn't a nobody, but he's a low-upside prospect. Most on this board consider Misyul to be a superior player to Okhotyuk, and a late 1st - early 2nd round talent that fell because he has a 3 year KHL contract.

If I could I’d vote for Schmid here. I thought his perseverance last year was precisely the mental fortitude a goalie needs to be successful and gives me some sense that he has the tools to succeed if he can continue to develop.
