Justin Brazeau signs 2 year AHL deal with Toronto Marlies. Kid can score at junior level but his skating is going to need a ton of work to be anything close to NHL average.

Posted that over in the FA thread since he's not a collegian. IF he can work that skating up to just passable, he could be an interesting prospect. That much finish and size will be an Andreychuk sized load to handle for someone.

At 21 years old, 6'6" and 226 pounds I would hope he could score goals in his 4th year in the OHL. It will be interesting to see how that translates in the pros.

If those who are behind the paywall missed this, Pronman did a write-up on all the UDFA's he likes here: Pronman: Ranking the top free agents from the CHL, college...

Circling back around to this, it seems unlikely that guys like Shepard or Mackey will sign this summer and will go back for another year of school. Of Pronman's list top 20, the only one's left who don't seem destined to go back are non-NCAA guys: Nygard (SHL) and former Sabre Rookie camper Kevin Hancock (OHLer). Priskie goes UFA on August 15th... and he's an offensive defenseman who will have his choice of destinations.

Jokke Nevalainen's last list of Euro UDFA's was almost 2 weeks ago and almost all of them have signed: Prospect Ramblings: Europeans Crossing the Pond (May 5)

Turunen's the only one I see who is still unsigned from Jokke's list (and he's usually pretty astute with his assessments of who is ready to make the jump), and Turunen is not a strong skater.

No thanks, then. This team needs foot speed and skating more than ever.
