How is it a reach? He was picked at 27, so obvs is the 27th best prospect until proven otherwise!

Injuries seem like the thing that caused his stock to drop. Hope the gamble pays off.

I wondered if we would take the brother this draft if he was available at our pick.

I like his size, he's not a midget! so that's already a win

No problem with the pick. He was a projected top 5 pick a couple of years ago so the high end potential is there. With his size and play style he has a high floor so at the worst will be a bottom 6 guy. If he gets his skating down he has the potential to be that 30-30 power winger we have searched for.

A lot of mocks had him in the mid to late 20's back in January. Obviously a lot of us wanted to see them take the guys falling like Lavoie and Kaliyev but you can't exactly be pissed about a reach. Plus, it's pretty cool that these brothers get to grow up together and play for the same team, and we get to watch them do it.

Craig Button's analyst:

"In and around the net, he's very good. Understands how to free himself to get scoring chances and with his size, is difficult to push aside."

Projection: Top Six Heavy Winger

Comparable: James van Riemsdyk

Skating: 3/5 | Hockey Sense: 3/5 | Competitiveness: 4/5 | Puck Skills: 3.5/5 | Scoring: 3.5/5

Lightning take Nolan Foote with first round pick
"When the player comes up and he's taller than the coach and the GM, that's a good sign at this young age," Lightning head coach Jon Cooper told NBC Sports Network's Kathryn Tappen on the draft broadcast. "Competitive as he can be, he can shoot the puck with NHL players right now. Size and strength, something that will help us moving forward. You just love the ultra-competitiveness he and his brother have, and that's what sold us."

Could it be possible that we'll trade someone for a pick or picks in the second round since our next pick is in the 3rd round? Dump some cap and pick a gem or two?

Ooops. In wrong thread. Ignore please.

I predicted and called it. Perfect fit . He scored the same amount of goals as Leason and is two years younger. He has his brother in the system and has pedigree in his father. In , BB we Trust.

From what I read when healthy he has been good. Adds size. Cant complain. Hope the Foote bros tear up the league in TB!

Good pick. Nothing like adding a bit of "family rivalry" to the organization to spur BOTH brothers to reach for loftier goals then they might have playing for different teams.
