VGK fans indicating prices going up significantly.

From @mundyc3
What was originally two tickets for roughly $5,200 last [inaugural] season will be $7,950 (Including $300 in fees, $85 per ticket). They also are offering a 4 year commitment extension that has preset price increases Year 2 (5%), Year 3 (8%), and Year 4 (8%)

They're also cutting # of monthly payments from 8 to 6.

That's for electronic tickets.

VGK also really cracking down on fans/broker "making $$" on resale. First, they've limited all resale to their own resale site (with no seller fees). Fans significantly making $$ reselling tickets are being told they won't be allowed STH any more (not even playoff tix). (A number of "out of area" fans that sell at "average" STH price, even if they sell significant portion of their tickets aren't being targeted.)

That doesn't sound like prices will decrease to the common fan, but perhaps mark ups won't be as crazy.

A locked in increase of 8%? Yikes.

Jets have increased by the locked in max of 5% again for next year.

With inflation in the 1 to 2% range you have to wonder how sustainable these high yearly increases will be.

Jets 5% - Here is part of the renewal letter.

Since entering the NHL in 2011, our ticket prices, for all categories, have cumulatively increased by 26%. At the same time, league-wide hockey related revenues have increased by over 40%.

Previously, your annual seat holder investment increased by a maximum of 3% annually over the length of your term. In 2018-19, our expiring agreements increased to 5% while your agreement continued with the cost certainty of 3%. Upon confirmation of your renewal, your investment will increase to a maximum of 5% annually over your 3-year term.

Is it me or that phrase in red should do everything but justify the ticket price increase ?

It's almost as if they are telling you that the league has done so well at 40%, we ONLY had to raise your prices by 26%. So be thankful...

I haven't looked at that angle. But still, I mean if you wanted to justify price increases, just say that your expenses have grown and people will understand...especially Winnipeg who has a good squad and wants to keep it that way, and Jets also did some renovations to the MTS Centre.

Pollak: Sharks' new ticket options are geared toward...

Paywall. Article looks at a number of trends WRT STH.

Sharks aren't raising price for next season (for existing STH), and promise no increase ticket prices for fans who renew for 3 year stint. (Some seats are decreasing in value.)

Article discusses the division of fans (more tenured vs less) and how their interests differ. Also trying new "trade in" where fans can turn in 3-7 games for credits, etc.

The Wild ST prices have gone up quite a bit in the last 3-4yrs. I think since 2013 the average increase was between 4-6%. As far as teams going out of their way to be the sole benefactors of resale tickets I can understand that. What I don't like to hear is if they treat each situation the same. If I was a 20yr STH and a family member got sick where they required me to be with them almost all the time will they treat me the same as the dude who openly sells his tickets to make some cash? If they did that I would be more than upset.

Hurricanes renewal info came out today. My overall plan went up by $258 ($129/seat) to $2,590 for my pair of seats - that includes seating and parking, mind you. I've tried to color code as best I could here.

Columbus had no increase for 2019-2020, but the City of Columbus has a new entertainment tax of 5% starting July 2019.

Don't have a map but Leafs tickets went up 6-21% this year. Certain areas in the upper bowl (believe its lower greens and lower purples) saw significant increases.

The Leafs also introduced a couple new options
- Reduce package from 42 games to 22 (1 preseason + home opener + even or odd games thereafter), with full playoff access
- "Park" membership for 2019-2020 (season + playoffs) and get the option to return to original seats in 2020-2021
