Ottawa
Jakov Novak still leads Sens NCAA prospects in points with 16 in 16 gp.
He plays on a weak Bentley team in a weak AHA division though.
Pinto's and JBD's North Dakota is ranked 3rd nationwide playing in the strongest division.

Gruden has a better chance to make the team than many people might think. He's been a favourite of USA Hockey for a while now.

I like both Gruden & Pinto as prospects who could surprise us in the next few yrs.

Is Lassi Thomson a lock for Team Finland*?
Also is there any other prospects that may claim a roster spot in their respective Countries aside from JBD Pinto & Gruden?

Sogaard woulda made the Danish team had they qualified. No one else was invited to their respective camp/already aged out.

Someone posted a couple pages back that Sogaard is still representing Denmark but in the Div 1 tournament instead

Oh really? I assumed he was going the same route as Rossi and Kirk, but good for him getting the international experience. Medicine Hat have another good young goalie, so that may have factored into the decision.

He is playing for Denmak, he lost his only start 3-0 to Latvia facing 35 shots. In the 2nd game Denmark beat Slovenia 2-1 in OT, outshooting Slovenia 42-14 but Soegaard was not in nets.

Denmark's next game Dec 12 against Austria, then 13th against Norway and then the 15th against Belarus.

I thought this was pretty cool.

Interesting,

Just looking back at a typical draft year, the ~14th to 18th best picks are probably not as good as you'd expect.

Just going purely by sorting by points (obviously flawed method) the 14th to 18th ranked players in a pretty good 2007 draft year you have guys like McDonnagh, Killorn, Eller, Sutter, Bonino. Not a bad group of guys to add to a team, but it doesn't seem as impressive viewed through that lens.

But after that? Patrick? Suzuki? Necas? Glass? Frost? Who else?

6 Vegas picks in the top 29.

Which is kinda normal since it was their first draft ever and they benefited from very advantageous expansion rules compared to teams before that allowed them to stockpile picks. They had 3 picks in the top-15 and 3 more in the top-65. Credit to making a good use of those picks but it's not that surprising.

Regarding the Sens, they didn't have many picks because Dorion used several for his trades after taking over the team. Yes the team went to the ECF just before that draft but everybody knows it was more on the strength of the talent he inherited from Murray and not because of his moves.

He eventually traded a relatively bad late 1st from that draft (Bowers) but struck gold with his 2nd and 4th round picks (Formenton and Batherson). He acquired Norris and Brannstrom by trading away elite players (Karlsson and Stone), so not much credit there as well.

I'm surprised how high Suzuki is.

Well, some people in Montreal see him as a surefire 1st liner.
