It is cool to break these down into segments. Unlucky number thirteen is going to be tough, with four games against top ten clubs, and Florida probably hovering in the 15ish range. That's probably our roughest segment. Easiest one might be six, with three games against bottom five teams, and then Philly and Colorado who are in the 13-20 range of the league. Based on my standings projections, this is roughly the average standings rank of each team we face in each stretch. So lower is tougher, higher is easier.

I think Babs 6 points goal is good. But I personally would like 7 per segment. For 16 segments.

Obviously the goal should be higher, but what Babcock meant with the 6 points per segment is the minimum you likely need to make the playoffs.

I haven't looked at the Leafs board. I imagine hell has broken loose after the OT loss yesterday.
But this thread gives me comfort that we are actually doing ok meeting our segment targets.

We have a 2 day break before the Washington game and 3 day break before facing Phili. We should be rested and we really need to win both games. If we can do that then we can salvage this segment.

I don't like how Babcock focuses so much on these 5 game blocks. It sets the team up for complacency. It's like ok, we won the first 3 of our 5 game block, now we can lose next 2 and we're still good. The crazy thing is Babcock actually talks like this.

You know what needs to change? The top players actually leading the team. If Matthews and Marner have to rely on an energy guy to get them going then they aren't the right guys. The Leafs will only get better if they actually out work the other team. Talent alone only goes so far.

If you look at Buffalo, Eichel is not only scoring but helping defensively. Something Matthews and Marner don't do much of.

Im not hopeful about our chances against the Broons. And we have a guaranteed loss on the back end of the back to back.

This team is incapable of scoring first and struggles to catch up after that

Yes, we missed 4 segments this year but we missed 6 last year, and we only got 1 of 4 points in the last two games.

This season is not lost. We can recover and make the playoffs
