You think so?

Newhook: Obviously missed some time from that hit.
Helleson: Definitely won't have a productive year this season.
Weiss: Had a primary assist
Smirnov: Had two assists
Clurman: Had an assist, which is already like 33.3% of the production compared to last year.
Lievermann: Got to actually play.
Stienburg: Ivy League starts later.

Not too amazing, but I wouldn't say it was quiet either.
What’s the deal with Helleson anyway? Is he elite defensively or something? He was THE LEAST productive player on entire development program team last year. Just seems like it has Josh Anderson written all over him.

I’m not saying this is absolutely the case, but I’m just asking because I know nothing about him except for what I can find from stat watching which like I said he was the worst statistical player on his team. Unless he’s a modern day Vlasic or something it just looks like a really terrible pick from the outside.

There is another side to this however. If with one hit you could for sure remove the best player on the other side it becomes more tempting for a team to go big hit hunting.

I know, and I know it probably won't happen anyway, but if they have someone that knows hockey, they can differentiate between that hit or the Timmins hit or the Hishon hit, and that of the average big hit. They're very different when you see them.

I would only suggest it for junior/NCAA level hockey too. If they're pro, they're getting paid quite well and have very good insurance. These youngsters risking their health by going back into games after these hits before they even start their career just isn't worth it IMO.

The kids just want to play and impress the coaches with their toughness, but someone should step in and tell them it's all good, just take the rest of the game off. Then reevaluate later to see if they develop any concussion symptoms afterwards like we've seen happen a lot.

Was Newhook just not expecting anyone to hit him? That looks like some lack of awareness.
He’s never in his life even had to really worry about this. I have a feeling Newhook is going to have a real tough time adjusting to playing with/against players better than him.

I think his offensive skills are better than his stat line showed, but this year we should be expecting like a maximum of eight points. Even Makar struggled as a freshman playing against men, it's tough.

Now he won't be an offensive dynamo by any stretch of the imagination in the pros, but besides the top 10 for last draft he is one of the purest passers in the entire draft class. He has good enough hockey IQ to get around and is a very strong one-on-one defensive player...picture someone like Vincent Dunn.

He's averaging a ppg, which is ahead of his 2018-2019 average ppg. But I don't think he should be judged entirely by his offensive production this season. It will happen on these boards in any event, because that is how it is done around here.

Absolutely. Like the Makar is overrated crowd constantly pointing to his draft+ 1 numbers with UMASS, while he worked on his all around game. These bluechip prospects get picked apart unnecessarily if they don't dominate the stat sheet.

Byram's skill, vision, and poise are all clearly high end. That's not what he needs to work on this year. If he puts up huge numbers again that's just a bonus.

Annunen looks very good. Focused, quick and covers a lot of the net. I'm not good on evalutiating goalies but he looks like a veteran, has had to stop couple of breakaway/semi breakaways too.

Jesse Puljujärvi has a long tongue and it's hanging out of the mouth way too much.

I would love to get Pool out of Edmonton. I think he can be a 50-60 point winger in Colorado. Would happily give Jost+ for him.

Werner has got better every game he played so far. Looks like he is adjusting well to NA style. Started 3 games of the 4 they played so far.

Game 1: 3.19/.889%
Game 2: 2.96/.917%
Game 3: 1.85/.933%
