I remember Tatar at 19 wasn't a very good skater when he got called up. And he improved enough.
But I'm not sure it's so easy for guys to work hard and improve their skating all that much. It was just surprising to read that about Mastro.
You draft a 5'10 kid in round 2, you naturally think he can skate like the wind. This is definitely information I'm tucking away to watch for as he develops.

Watching more of him, he does remind me of a young Tatar.

Not sure if its something anyone is interested in, but I saw Kris Draper at the Charlottetown Islander vs Rimouski Oceanic game last night.

What is it worth though? A 2nd round pick really shouldn't be playing juniors in Europe except maybe in Russia. It's not like Ässät is any good anyway. Why isn't he playing Liiga? There's nothing he could possibly learn playing Juniors...otherwise that would be somewhat concerning.

He's going the NCAA route and this is the highest level he can play while retaining eligibility.

Thanks. Didn't know that. It's stupid though. Too many stupid rules in North American hockey not really helping players development.

Watching Breggren again today, doing a lot of the little things well, good zone entries, drew a nice penalty and is back checking well. Feel he needs to be a lot more aggressive offensively.
