Agreed. I don’t think it’s hideous I just think it’s boring and not too clean. Looks like a generic mask for An Islanders goalie in the NHL video games

He's actually insanely talented. He just has literally no impulse control and it shows in like...85% of his work.

It shows with all the lens flares.

If DaveArt tried to make either these masks today, it would be littered with lens flares and effects that would ruins them.

If I was a goalie, I would 100% go to DaveArt, but I would tell him just to paint the mask, and knock everything else off.

Absolutely horrendous mutilation of a classic mask.

It's either DA is still trying to prove himself or he has no grasp as to why those iconic hockey masks from the 90's (mostly) are considered as all time classic.

DA appears to have no concept of the word "simplicity".

This might honestly be one of if not the nicest masks I've ever seen in my 30ish years of being a gear nerd.

I believe he's the same guy who did the Rask winter classic helmet too. I love his work, it's not over the top and messy. It looks so good.

Who did Hillers masks? His were always amazing. Minimal, impactful, and damn good looking.

DaveArt has gotten somewhat better. He’s an incredible artist no doubt, but imo still over does it with his shading and lens flares and gimmicks. Reminds me of the old Eye Candy plugin for photoshop back in the day.

Agree. Most are waaaay too busy. There is elegance in simplicity. How is the visibility from the upper bowl and on an iPhone? Also, the old fear factor is mostly gone in today's tendy equipment.

Don't have a pic of it, and not sure if it is in this thread yet or not, but Kevin Lankinen's mask for the Hawks looks quite nice in game action. Saw him in the second half of tonight's game against the Wings and was definitely liking his mask.
