This is somewhat confusing as Coburn has looked good.

Although Serg and Shatty look good together so there is hope with that.

Bingo. There’s a reason they went cheap on the defense with Shatty and Schenn. A top 4 RHD cost big. If we had the cap space, they would have extended Strålman (probably at quite a bit less than he’s getting from Florida).

BTW - given that it’s a small sample size so far - Stråls seems to be quite healthy and more like his old self.

Well if the depth shows it can score then why not? That top line is a threat to score anytime they are out there. They just gotta remember to shoot.

I think people are too distracted by the number 1 D pairing.

Yeah, I know. But the interview Strålman did with Joe Smith for the Athletic suggested that he would have loved to make something work but JBB said they couldn't even make an offer.

Besides, is all water under the bridge now. He's doing well with the Panthers and making the big bucks that we couldn't afford (yes, I agree that he was overpaid but the Cats really needed his skillset.) I just get a little nostalgic when people are talking about finding Heddy a decent partner.

You of all people should know we're not allowed to have nice things.

I guess what really bothers me the most about it is, if you want to get a specialist to go full offense, then f***ing find another Marc Andre Bergeron type and sign him and let Heddy carry him around.

Rutta does nothing well. His skating is slightly above average, but his IQ, ability to make an outlet pass, handle pressure, and so on are just shit.

That is definitely distraction worthy, I just see some shots at the forward combinations as well.
