Appleyard can check this, but I'll bet the success rate of players who start in the SHL at age 18-19 is pretty high.
For one thing, they have an alternative, called Allsvenskan, which is similar to the Russian MHL.
Players work their way up the ladder. So no one is "gifted" a SHL slot.

Ginning played 12 SHL games (and 2 PO games) at 17, and 19 U-18 games at 17
Played 29 SHL games at 18 (and 7 PO games), 28 U-18 games.
Played 48 SHL games at 18/19 (Jan birthday), 18 U-20 games.
