Friedman, NAK, Bunnaman, Millman, Attard, Laberge, Ginning, Wylie, St Ivany, Twarynski, Sushko, Strome, Hain, Serdyuk.
Not sure you can find a huge gap between any of them right now, and how do you weight NHL ready v higher upside?

We're up to pick 18 and only have 1 right-handed defenseman off the board so far.

Still available we have one RHD that actually played in the NHL last year, one who just made the US WJ team, and another who just set USHL records.

We're really going to vote for the 9th winger off the board? One entering his draft+5 season? Over good candidates who play a premium position that has extreme scarcity issues around the league?

If going for a winger, I'd at least gamble on upside and analytics with young Serdyuk.

Attard has definitely been underrated so far.

Not high on Friedman or St. Ivany though.

I'm going for Friedman next. He's 4.5 months older than NAK, and also entering his D+5 season, but I think both of them could end up being useful NHL players.

St. Ivany is younger than Attard, was much better in the USHL at the same age, and already has a solid first year of college hockey under his belt. If we are talking about accomplishments, he was the go-to defenseman on the US WJAC team a year earlier than Attard (who wasn't even considered for the team that year) and he made the u20 WJC team last year after being completely off the radar in the summer. He was an extra on a team where his clearly inferior college teammate played on the top pair with Quinn Hughes, but it was still an impressive accomplishment.

Attard could have a higher ceiling, but I think he's a little rougher around the edges. St. Ivany plays a game that is easily projectable to the pro level. Very underrated hands and passer for a big defenseman. Big shot too on the PP but that won't be his game at the next level.

Friedman at 18 was equal/better than St Ivany and much better than Attard in the USHL at that age.
51 games 10-30 40 +22 , in two PO series, 17g 2-10 12
It's not like he was awful in his 3 college seasons from 19-21
121g 16-52 68 +19
Nor has he stunk out the joint in the AHL the last two years.

Problem with older players is you can't fantasize about a huge jump because it never happened.
But Friedman is close to a sure thing to be a third pair D-man in the NHL with an outside chance of developing into a 2nd pair guy.

St Ivany has had a similar career path to Friedman, he's bigger so that's a plus, but don't think he skates nearly as well.
Attard didn't break out until he was 19, we'll see if he's for real this fall at W Michigan.

I really hope they give NAK enough playing time this year to either see if there is something there as far as being a good bottom 6 guy or to at least inflate his trade value a little.

I'll be really disappointed if they lose him on waivers either this year or next without having given him a decent look.

Friedman is 2nd to Ginning on the list, to me. Millman & Serdyuk could shoot up a lot by next season, but not yet ready to rank them ahead of guys I think will have an NHL career on defense.

They are overrating Kalynuk. But I guess they wanted a "hot take" at 10.

York could be here by next season. YORK 20/21.

I think NAK’s shot here has come and gone. Unfair or not — and that shot was as a 4th line wing.

He’s waivers eligible and might not even be here soon enough. Plenty of upside on the board though.
