I made a lot of predictions about what this team could be, but the one I was most adamant about was that we'd be more in the 6-12 range than the 1-5 range. I know we've been playing horribly, but unless everyone continues to regress on a nightly basis I'd expect some degree of a turnaround.

I would guess we find ourselves in the 8-12 range by the TDL and have to hope that our moves sink us further. I just worry they'll then call up guys like Andersson, Meskanen, Bigras, Hajek, Lindgren, etc., and get that fun-but-unfortunate boost of energy and pick up wins we don't really deserve. Like earlier in the year when the guys looked like they really wanted it.

Four points separate the Rangers from first overall. The second half schedule is far worse than what they’ve already gone through.

Not exactly much of a prediction, I think the vast majority (all?) would agree with that initial #6-12 forecast. We have no business being Top 5 but it could happen - and there are equations to get there. With 5 games to go prior to the 10 day break, a deeper dive in the standings could encourage a more aggressive sell. Fewer OTL’s and losing tomorrow afternoon and then Chicago next week would be a start.

Teams like philly, blues, and Devils will also all be sellers at the deadline probably. So I dont know how much better they will get. I think the Rangers stay about right where they are now but def could be in the top 5.

NJD: Boyle, Stafford, Lovejoy
PHI: Lehtera, Simmonds, Weal, Raffl, Folin
STL: Maroon, Bouwmeester, Gunnarsson

I don't see Philly trading Simmonds honestly, and the other pending UFAs on these teams are not even close to the level of Hayes and Zuccarello who will probably both trade

Nobody below us is blowing out guys like we are going to. They don’t have the quality ufas coming up to do it. We’re going to get significantly worse than everyone else.

The only team that could match us as sellers is Ottawa who I think will be desperate to do what they have to do to keep stone and duchene. If those guys reup they will be a better team than us as soon as Chabot gets back.

ottawa truly needs to win games to be honest, they really cant continue to lose because their pick goes to colorado. if im ottawa management im doing everthing in my power to finish in the 10-12 range. makes it look a little better then giving up a 1st overall

I'm not acting as if it was some ballsy prediction. But a lot of people felt otherwise. Everyone would be like, "List five teams that are worse than us!" A huge percentage of the board expected a bottom five, bottom three finish.

I understand that. A lot of the teams below us will also be sellers and will also continue to lose a shit-ton of games. We'll get worse, they'll get worse. When you're a bad team there's not a huge difference between having the 5th-easiest schedule and the 15th-easiest schedule. I don't really see our position moving that much.

That's the great thing about being a Rangers fan: even when Philly and NJ lose, those two win.

You’re making the assumption this team would win those games in hand. That’s nowhere near a given right now.
Missed this post. I'm not making any assumptions. I'm just stating a fact and my opinion that it sucks. Wouldn't it be better to not have games in hand, or be the other way around? God, you're so unnecessarily combative with me sometimes.

Hur hur.

I don't see it moving that much more.

The Devils play the Flyers on Saturday when the Rangers play the Islanders. One of those teams is going to get two points. The Rangers are not likely melt to win in Brooklyn. If you’re he Devils win and the Rangers lose, the Rangers move do 7th overall. I maintain the Rangers will easily end up bottom five.

I do not see it as combative. I’m just engaging your viewpoint. I aa not a combative type of personality.
